Leveling Mage guild skills

How do you rank up the actual skills? I am trying to get the morph for magelight but it seems to either be leveling slow or not at all.

I don't mean the actual mages guild; I'm asking how to level each individual skill. Tried looking around but all I can find is how to level the guild itself.

The same way you rank up all skills. Throw them on your bar and keep them there while fighting/questing.

My lvl 22 alt has Magelight morphed and it didn't take very long.

Start collecting the lore books... you will need almost all of them that you find before your Mage Guild line maxes out.

You just put it on your bar and it levels. If you get it soon and keep it on you will have Inner light maxed out around LVL40.You can see the amount of exp you have if you hover your cursor over the skill bar.If it doesn't go up you may have a bug but I doubt it.

The individual skills you lvl by using and getting exp with them in the bar... Like most others.

    The tree is with lorebooks.

Collectinjg lore books is best way to improve mages guild skills. Even better progression comes when you complete a collection of books.

These books are everywjhere around Tamriel.

Some of them have not been even written yet. ^^

Put them all on your bar prior to turning in quests. This gives them far more skill XP than grinding.

Yeap best way , personally i use the wykkyd outiftter mod to give me macros to change skill bars.

Just press one button before deliver and before fighting.

LOREBOOKS DO NOT INCREASE INDIVIDUAL MAGES GUILD SKILLS

They earn XP like every other skill. Too many people claiming otherwise.
    Thank Stendarr it’s Fredas.

Thank you for the replies everyone. Ive had it on my skill bar but I guess I didn't notice it going up after a few quests. Maybe those quests just didnt award much xp.

As for the lore books, this is also why I was a little confused. I didn't know if they also contributed to the skill, or only the mages line as a whole. I'm good now though. Thanks again!

I am a 47 NB. Did not have magelight before going into Cyrodil. Had points to spend so got it from constant invis peeps ganking me. It leveled in like 20 minutes enough to morph when it was on the hotbar
