To be honest, I was running dragonstar arena with Hodor on tuesday. It was so much fun. Every minute on wasting on the PTS was totally worth it. I actually had more fun on the PTS with Dragonstar Arena than i have on the live server right now.

If you click Youtube in my sig, you see a lil video of that Dragonstar run ;)

You have a Hodor!? I have his shorter cousin Hodorf!

I was talking about the guild Hodor :D

Ironic isn't it? Just a couple/few months ago players were begging for a PTS server. Now that ZOS gave the player base what it asked for, there are now threads from the player base bemoaning the whole concept, and want to be rewarded in return for utilizing what they asked for.

This statement could not be any truer and I'm sitting over here laughing my backside off.

You know what reward we got for being PTS testers before launch? Our reward was being accused of just playing the game and not testing because the game had bugs. We were accused of doing nothing but finding exploits to use when the game went live. We were accused of being elitest jerks. We were accused of being the pets of ZOS. We were accused of having a secret agenda and getting ZOS to change the game to how we wanted it. Oh, the list goes on and on.

It is great irony that the PTS server is now open to everyone and, somehow, the patches still have bugs. All those new PTS should stop trying to find exploits and start some real testing ;)

I hope that everyone who complained and accused the old testers of doing anything less than actual testing now have a bad taste in their mouths from eating so much crow.

I think they are apples and oranges now. Before launch, the PTS was closed off and the live game was unable to be accessed. People wanted to play the game. Now that the game is live no one gives a s@#$ about the PTS because they can just play on their live characters. The characters that they have spent time on and enjoy are also on live. They wanted access to the PTS so they could play the game before launch.

While I do think that the "Poorly Tested Server" aka PTS crowd did a terrible job at testing the game it very well could be ZOS has cotton balls in their ears again. They really need to hire some competent testers that are willing to break their system to find bugs.

Want to know what would happen if I told my test engineers and QA leads that they would need to test for free and pay me $15 a month? If they even stayed around, which they wouldn't, we wouldn't get any quality testing done. It would be pretty hilarious.

The classic PTS strategy isn't working for ZOS... At all. Maybe it's because people have to constantly remake their gear due to set changes and level cap increases? Oh, off topic. Shame on me.

Testing a game takes time from actually playing the game, and we pay to do that. Sadly I feel no guilt in not using the time I pay to play testing. Give me a free sub, then we'll talk. At least then I'm compensated.

Look at the Road Ahead announcement under "A Plea For Help On PTS."

"In the future, we plan to add some kind of incentive for helping us test new content, so keep your eyes open for details."

I suppose that giving an in-game item that has no tangible value is easier on the budget than actually hiring test engineers. I doubt the incentive will be anything that boosts your stats. It will probably be another vanity pet or something similar.
