I've been reading stuff about caps. Why doesn't zenimax tell us these things instead of making us waste our time?

Right now I have

21 magicka
18 Health
10 stamina

Someone said to go all 49 health.

Im a 2h and bow nightblade.

Any tips?

With the increase to the health softcap most people are putting 49 into health.
Then just enchant your gear with either magicka or stamina depending on your build type.

I adjusted to fit my equipment. I have all magicka enchants and went with 10m 25h 14s. Just find what works with what you want. I went with more stamina and magicka for more damage.

Things change all the time. Would you rather spec to the best build every month, or theorycraft your own character concept?

I just dont understand what are soft caps and stuff like that? There is no manual for this game. I think its pretty lame to hand someone a piece of software with no instructions how it works.

What is a softcap in this game? What is a hardcap? How does Stamina and magicka effect damage? NONE of this is documented.

It depends on your play style as well as where your stats are in your final template

As a Bow user Staminia is your most important attribute

As an assassin using class skills (ambush, Concealed Weapon, ect) Magika is most important.

In your case as a 2hand / Bow it depends on how many class damaging class skills you use, if you use mainly weapon skills i would go more stamina heavy. In eigther case you should be full medium armor for the weapon crit bonus. Weapon crit also effects melee class skills.

I've never understood the point of going 49 in Health for anyone that uses stamina

If you use an even stat placement (16/17/16) it's easier to balance things out with enchants, jewelry, and food.

The point of all into hp is you get 15 per point rather than the 10 you get in mag/stam. So it's more efficient to dump 49 in hp and manage your resource pools via armor enchants. I don't think anyone can say it's 100% the "best" choice, but it is the most efficient pound for pound use of your attribute points.

    Magicka: 15
    Health: 17
    Stamina: 17

Presently sitting pretty even, but once I craft my next set and respec I will take a couple points from magicka and back into health, then just focus on more magicka enchants. Along with food that will do me nicely.

It would depend on quite a few things, what level, what you are doing etc How specific your build is.

Having balance like you've suggested ^ is easy for level 1-50 stuff, truth be told you could pretty much be naked through 1-50 levels with any attribute distribution. But that won't get you far in vet content, trials, PvP etc.

As to why 49 health? It's probably because the person who said put everything into health was active in PvP and looking at it from that standpoint.

I'm 49 health, and while I need to keep an eye on things with magicka usage, my stamina pool is never empty as my stamina regen is 130 which is 1 over soft cap from memory, and health is 3,497 with food in Cyrodiil.

Also, tipping everything into health does more than just give you more HP. ;)

On a side note, I'm an NB so weapon damage and crit are important to me, and I love bow and with my setup I'm at 63% crit and 206+13 for weapon damage. Openers use magicka, then it's stamina baby and with my stam regen, Happy days!

Every build is different along with every play style. When ZOS said you can play as you like, they weren't kidding, you just need to understand how your build is going to work for the good or the bad.

Im a bow/DW NB and went 49 stam. Got no health enchants, three major magicka rest stamina. With food have over 2k stamina and with my bow abilities they do heavy damage from stealth. I find i use my bow a lot more lately so the damage is there. My magica is mostly used for dark cloaks and mist forms for defense. Occasionally ill ambush, conceal weapon then have my hidden blade boosted due to all my stamina.

Hello Nightblades! I used the Shrine of Auriel to redistribute my attribute points to ALL HEALTH, and I can say I have an easier time managing kills so far at level 19 then I did when I was a balanced distribution between magicka and health. I think all health is the way to go, especially if your Imperial which gives a % bonus to health.

This was only true for beta because you got 15HP over 10stam /magika. while all gear stats gave equal hps or stam /magika. BUT that was changed before launch so that gear stats with HPS give 50% more to be equal with the stat allocation points. So now there is no benefit to allocate hps. Its all equal on your stats and gear.

The only exception is still jewelry which they over looked, which gives the same HPS as stamina and magika. So because of this your better off getting your HPS from your armor or stat allocation
