Question to ZOS officials - do game time cards count for Loyalty Program, or is it just subscription?

Players would like to know.

As someone who's used a directly-paid subscription since early access: they darn well ought to respect game card subscribers.

Unless they've completely lost it, it should track total time on the active account, and not just how long you've had an active recurring subscription. I think (hope) the concern is misplaced.

They said that we'll learn more about the program in the next week so it isn't going to hurt to wait a bit, rather than speculating.

I'd expect that they're more concerned about the account being active than whether or not it's active because of a credit card or game card.

Most games count active account time, no matter how you pay, or how you break it up.

If your account has been active 6 months total (over 8 months... 3 paid, 2 off, 3 paid) you get the 6 month reward etc.

The rewards are usually additive. A reward at 6 months, is given when your acct. get 6 months paid, even if it takes 3 years for you to pay for 6 total months.

I'd assume Zeni will do the same, because it is easier to keep track of.

Exactly this. I can't imagine ZoS cares if players use time cards or a credit card. What matters is how long you account has been active.

This is what I am hoping, but would be nice if ZOS people piped up to put our minds at ease.

If you don't have gaps then you shouldn't run into problems. However, if you are unsubbed for a few hours or days while getting a new card then it wont count. That's at least how other MMOs do it.

This would be one of the dumbest things they could do to reset the timer with the gap if it's only a few days due to the wonderful debacle with time cards not being available at launch despite being able to order them from third party retailers who were stuck waiting for zenimax to get the cards to them.

There's a reason why they gave free time to people that were stuck waiting for these games and cards to be shipped. It would be paramount to political suicide for them to make such a bad decision after what went down.

I'd assume/hope that it applies to game time card users as well. if not, then they can look forward to a rage post from me in the future. :joy:

Well, people could just order two cards instead of one so that they always have one ready.

The issue with your argument is that ZO wont know if you just delayed accidently or on purpose.

It would create a big loophole to exploit the loyalty system if anyone can just take a few days or weeks off with those excuses you mentioned ;)

This however applies to the ongoing reward model. So far we don't know yet if they choose this one or another.

An alternative system which I personally have not yet seen but hey its probably possible as well could be a gated sub model.

In that system you add up days to your account based on your sub time so that you can take of a half year and once you return the counter just goes on from where you left it when you quit.

Personally I prefer the first system as this shows true loyalty. Taking weeks or months off doesn't show loyalty in my opinion.

    We will see ;)

Tracking how long your card has been logged instead of game time seems malicious to me. So I hope noone does that.

What made people think there will even be a check really?

Can anyone point that to me?

For all we know , they can just give the pets to anyone with a currently active account on the day X or Y and so on.

What made people think there will even be a check really?

It's the wording - they say "subscribers" and when you use a game time card you're not "subscribed".

Better to have the ambiguity cleared up now.

If they don't count time cards as a sub I'll be so pissed and most probably just quit the game (not just because of this, but PvP is still unplayable in large battles, countless bugs which are yet to be fixed, classes are still not optimised properly etc.) I think ZoS only cares about our money, not our feedback. I think I'll come around half a year later and see if changes will be implemented by then...

since I dont have one of the "credit cards" (I use a bank card wich is good for everything except this) I'm forced in the time card model, and since I'm playing since pre release doesn't make me any more/less loyal than a "subscribed" player

I don't know of any MMO with a loyalty program where you are rewarded for not being subscribed. So this isn't something you can blame ZO for its just how its done.

As long people enter a new code before their game time runs out all should be fine if ZO goes for the sub model and not something else what we still don't know btw.

I hope you're joking. You can be committed by repeatedly buying "non-recurring" game-time cards just like you can be committed by having a recurring payment. I've had an active account since March 30th, and have 77 days left of game-time from my cards. How is that not commitment?

They do count from what I could gather from the new article:

"Starting in September, we’ll begin emailing all eligible paid subscribers about the first of our loyalty rewards. Every paid account that has been subscribed for three months (excluding game time included with your purchase of ESO and any additional complimentary game time) will receive a High Hrothgar Wraith vanity pet that will let you show your dedication to saving Tamriel wherever you adventure in-game. The loyalty program will keep expanding over time, so keep an eye out for more tokens of our gratitude if you’re a longtime player. Our next reward will be granted for those who have subscribed for six months—we’ll reveal it to you soon."

just another something to throw on an alt I guess. Couldn't they give us something more lore friendly and not a pet?
