Yes, I am an odd ball -- I do like to grind and farm. They are just means to a greater end.

Grinding means that you trying to get XP for a level

Farming means that you are looking for loot / booty
.
They are close in meaning, but they are not the something.

I play for fun, thus I don't like grinding, I will do it when needed, but I refuse to like it. As for farming, I see the point, but I don't do it.

I just kind of go with the flow. I rarely find the need to grind. I usually end up farming passively without intending to because of the way things work in this game.

I did grind skill levels in Coldharbour after hitting VR1 if that counts. That was just fun to experiment with skills though.

I like to farm sometimes, somehow it's weirdly soothing. So I'll put on some music and run around doing nothing but picking flowers for two hours just because.

For me, listen to the game music (and sometimes, other type of music), hang out with a guild, zone chat, or friends. I found it relaxing and a good way to get out of a bad mood or to think about the day / build or other items.

I hate to grind, but i love to farm! Especially those crafting mats, they get hell from my character.

About 800 left till i've collected 10.000 of them. :)

    Edit: Not 1.000, but 10.000. :P

I don't put such goals while playing, usually I just log on and do some stuff without a real intention of finding loot, getting xp or something else.

I used to grind at WOW back in the days, we had to farm buff food and enchants for our raid gear (Vanilla / TBC).

I prefer very very hard content ..with excelent rewards at the end. Not easy one button repetitive actions, with 1% chance of getting something good.

Farming and grinding its boring ,boooooooooring. And its a very common thing in MMOs sadly , thats why I dont want that "thing" in ESO.

I dont mind either as long as i can do them alone really. I did both on multiple MMOs , multiple times , for multiple reasons.

But in ESO for the most part both of those things require a group, which makes them annoying to me.

I love farming ! I'll chase down a crafting node across a bridge guarded by 7 Gargoyles over a lava pit... but grinding.... Nah. I like to level but I don't feel the need to top out over night. I like taking my time and doing everything the game offers.. :)

Back in the day grinding was the ONLY way to level in most MMOs.
Next time you hear someone saying <Insert MMO> was better way back when, tell them they're filthy liars, and maybe make a "Ur mom" joke.

That being said, I do love me some Farming/Grinding. Because <Insert MMO> was better way back when.

I don't go out Farming for Mats, I never seem to find them, even if I think I know where the Nodes are. However, if I stumble across something along the way, I will grab it. Currently I am trying to get WW/Clothing and Blacksmithing up to 50 on my crafters, all of these are in the low to mid 40's, so it should not be too long. So, I farm and loot Public Dungeons and my favorite place, the Zombie Field in Coldharbor.

Once those are set, then I can focus on Alchemy Mats or Provisioning Mats. And, that is more Farm than Loot in scope.

There actually is little Grinding in this game, unless you want to. If you go along and do just the quests and fight just what you need to for those quests or to get to where the quest sends you, I have gained levels as I have needed them. Only a couple of times have I thought I needed to buff a level or two, and then a PUG can take care of that.

That being said, you can grind in this game if you want to.

Farming is the lifeblood of every Alchemist. All of my alts do it to keep my Level 50 Alchemist in pretty flowers and stinky mushrooms.

Like many of the other replies, I just play. Lately I have been leveling one of 11 Alts in order to have 3 Alts capable of supplying the Rest of the Alts with Food Mats from the Capitols. I've been using them to Level the Provisioning Craft of all the characters, of which 5 of my 8 NA Alts are now L50. I mostly was leveling just one Alt since I had two at the right places already. This alt was in the first area I played through because the first character was two regions further on and unable to obtain appropriate recipes.

I have to do something similar on the EU server but I only have two Alts to raise provisioning on there as the third is already L50 Provisioning ;).

    # Edit once I've leveled the easiest craft to level I'll stop any actual farming activity except trying to occasionally raid the cupboards for new recipes for the Alts.

I'm not a farmer....but I am a Gatherer. I scour the land in search of mats to hoard. Only reason I level up is to travel to new lands and gather there also.

....Craglorn will be strip mined if I ever get above VR2 (which don't look likely at moment as I don't quest other factions)
