On the sidelines, with a question

I played in a lot of the beta's, going back to last summer. I subscribed and played for a bit after release. I normally let new MMO's bake a while before I play, and the bots and gold farmers drove me away at first.

My problem is I want to play a Cleric, a heavy armor healer wielding a mace and shield. From what I've read, this won't be a viable character in the end game.

I also have no interest in playing in the other zones, for VR levels. If I want to play in a different faction, I'll start a character in that faction. My Dark Elf isn't going to be running any quests for non-EP.

So where does that leave me? I won't be VR, and I'll be in gimped armor and weapons. Should I keep waiting for the game to develop further? Play to 50 and just quit? PvP won;t be any good without VR, right?

Healing in heavy armor and 1h/s will likely have mana issues. Mana recovery mainly comes from light armor(which both lowers cost of spells and increases mana regen) and from restoration staff (heavy resto staff attacks restore mana). On the other hand, you might try stacking mana regen set bonuses and jewelry, and use harness magicka buff... might work out to some degree.

And IMHO, you don't need to do the other faction territories for VR levels, you can get them elsewhere(craglorn, pvp)

You can get to lvl 50, and still be viable in pvp. ESPECIALLY if you're a healer.

after lvl 50, if you don't want to go to the other factions ( I did the first, and Never stepped foot in the second) you have 3 options.

1.Go to craglorn, grind out Anomolies, tower runs etc. ( kinda fast I guess. Only did about 10 runs my self.) (( you can gear yourself through this as well.))

    2. Level through pvp. ( I went from vr4 to 12 this way. It takes a long long time. You will be sitting around waiting for Def/ offensive ticks just to get that nice xp bonus. Slowest but most fun IMO. There are also quests scattered all through cyrodiil. and not to mention the 5 daily pvp ones. This is probably alot easier now then it was when I did it.)

    3. Wait for the game to develop. Which it may or may not.

Edit: and Who says you can't mix and match?

Get home from work/ school > anom grind for an hour > go to pvp.

Or the other way around, Pvp not going how you want it too? Go anom grind for a little and come back.

From a PvE end, you won't be useless if you identify yourself as a tank in groups, but you're going to be a hybrid no matter what. And I think you had to know that coming in, because you mentioned playing in the beta.
