Should DPS/TANK/HEALER roles be more defined and classic? Nightblade does not feel NB in PVP solo

Healer and DPS roles are good. I haven't played a tank yet but have noticed a difference when a good one is in group.

I actually prefer healing here than other MMOs, I got rather bored healing before ESO.

What do you mean by "NB does not feel NB", and what do you mean by "PvP solo"? Flying solo is not really an option in PvP other than for some crazy overpowered builds that are most likely due to unintended imbalances. PvP in Cyrodiil is primarily a group effort and a teamplay game.

As for your question, no. I greatly appreciate the opportunity to think outside the box and do my own thing, rather than being cast into a mold and be locked into a certain playstyle because of a mostly uninformed choice at character creation. What good would a pure healer do in solo PvE, and what use would a pure tank be outside of groups?

If you mean class >> role , then no.

BUT they could create a larger gap in the roles , by making people focus more (still any class) into them. So a tank would be more tanky and the dps more squishy...

With that said , the balance in the game is still bad AND zen is horrible at balancing , so i doubt they could actually do this without breaking the balance ten times more.

I'm really liking that I can play as I want. My Nightblade is a very successful ranged single-target killer, and has amazing potential to burst damage player or NPC up close using shadow cloak/veiled strike rotations.

Most complaints I see with Nightblades are associated along two lines:
    - Cloak doesn't work like it does in other MMO's, and players can't just pop smoke and escape every fight they can't win. Considering the BE nerfs and the like, I actually think that this is intended by ZOS. Aggressively, cloak works fine.
    - Stamina-focused builds are outperformed by magicka builds. Obviously not a class issue, but many complainers link their DW Nightblade and think it's special. Nope. And ZOS knows there's a disparity. Light armor is getting nerfed, and will probably continue to see small nerfs so that it's DPS and tanking aren't so powerful.

Tanking overall is a bit lackluster, but there IS a difference. It's just, like most games, content is setup with the focus on KILLING, not so much SURVIVING. Maybe the upcoming arena will change that, but I doubt it. It's so much easier to apply a dps check than a damage check, because damage mitigation in this game is almost identical between armor types and classes.

Gral. Mountain Terror. Barbarian, marauder, murderer. Nightblade.
Na'Djin. Knight-Blade. Knight, vanguard, defender. Nightblade.

Ruze is a veteran of the PC Beta, lived through the year one drought, survived the buy-to-play conversion, and has stepped foot in the hells known as Craglorn. He mained a nightlbade when nightblades weren't good, and has never worn a robe. He converted from PC during the console betas, and hasn't regretted it a moment since.

He'd rank ESO:TU (in it's current state) a 4.8 out of 5, loving the game almost entirely.

This is an multiplayer game. I should be able to log in, join a dungeon, join a battleground, queue for a dolmen or world boss or delve, teleport in, play for 20 minutes, and not worry about getting kicked, failing to join, having perfect voice coms, or being unable to complete content because someone's lagging behind. Group Finder and matchmaking is broken. Take a note from Destiny and build a system that allows from drop-in/drop-out functionality and quick play.

Yeah, they should. You can play as you want but don't expect to excel in every build. I'm sick of people rationalizing the unbalanced system in this game do to "I can play as I want". But, I don't like the class system or the way armour is set up anyways, so perhaps I am biased.

I solo PvP all the time and it is very fun :)

As far as nightblades go, I have a couple nightblade friends and their burst attack from stealth when I gank with them is INSANE. PvP is not a problem for them and I am jealous when they 2 hit people from 30 meters away haha
If you like small group PvP (2-4 players) and solo PvP check out my video ;)https://youtube.com/watch?v=jechGImtFio

SPOILER: The first 40 seconds of the video contains a scene from the final Molag Bal boss fight!

Yes the roles are only dps and heal. It's a horrible implementation. If I wanted this plausible I would still be playing GW2

But they were all single player games which IMO is a different beast compared to an MMO. They really implemented classes poorly in this game and would have benefited better by a tree system of say pick 3 skill line or some such idea. Unfortunately those types are harder to balance and we can see ZOS' ability to balance...

A single player game where you were the most badass mofo in all the land. A role seems to limit the character. I prefer to be the tank/dps/healer all in one just like I've always been in TES. If groups want to assign a specific job to each member, that's fine, but we shouldn't have these jobs shoved down our throat just because it's an MMO. What happened in other MMO's did not make their choices mandatory of all MMO's. The genre simply refers to playing with a very large number of other players. The rules are what the developers say they are.

But in this game you are not the only badass mofo (nice phrasing btw!) unless you only want to play solo. In group dungeons/raids/PvP this doesn't work out so well so everything gets cried for a nerf/buff so people can feel OP (hence the VR nerf) But perhaps this is what people want in this game? I don't know, only that I'm learning this isn't my ideal playstyle.

Thank you again all for sharing your thoughts :)

please check my discussion about "Cinematics" (keyword "Cinematic")

It would be great to know what others think about cinematic experience and more "mature" and "elaborated" conversations, moral choices (with perks and consequences), voiced toons... and also faction-affinity, more sense to belong to the chosen faction...
