Fungal Grotto (5-10) & (9-15) via Grouping Tool confusion

Morrighan_Ravenborn
Hi everyone. I am really confused about the correct way to use the Grouping Tool for dungeons and I don’t want to spoil other people’s experience by diving in unprepared.

My High Elf in The Aldemeri Dominion has just hit level 10 so I decided to look to see what dungeons I could do.

I found the list of

(5-10) Fungal Grotto
(9-15) Fungal Grotto
(9-15) Fungal Grotto - yes this one was listed twice
and some other higher level dungeons

So my understanding is that Fungal Grotto is a level 15 dungeons & is in Stonefalls, part of the Ebonhart Pact.

So…. What is the 5-10 group for? It is for anyone in that level range… meaning that the dungeon is not as difficult as the one that has the 9-15 listing? Or are they all the same difficulty but it is there for those that like to be seriously challenged?

Also, if I am nowhere near Stonefalls how do I get to the dungeon?

I apologise in advance if the answer is patently obvious, but I’ve spend hours Googling & pawing through the forum, trying to get an understanding of this.

Fungal Grotto is as you say, in the EP faction area. It is part of the initiation to the “Undaunted Guild” quest.

There is similar dungeons to run for the Undaunted in the other fractions, with the AD faction having the “Banished Cells” in Auridon. Spindleclutch is located in Glenumbra for the DC faction and EP’s Fungal Grotto is located in Stone Falls.

These are challenging dungeons for their levels, have fun.

As far as the level ranks, I think those are just the current composition of groups trying to form up, not ratings of dungeon instances.

    Edit = typo fix.

Thanks Cabot. That makes sense. I think I better hang back until I am a bit more experienced & perhaps have weapon swapping.

Talking to the undaunted after completing the first dungeon will reveal the location of the other two.
You can teleport to known dungeons using a wayshrine (or using the travel to player option if somebody in your group is already inside the dungeon)

To make this just a bit clearer, once you finish the group dungeon in your alliance zone and turn in the Undaunted quest, you can teleport directly to the group dungeons at the same level in the other two alliances, or use a wayshrine. So you're actually in the other alliance's territory while you're in the dungeon. As soon as you exit the dungeon, you return to wherever you were in your own Alliance territory.

Every zone has group dungeons that you can get to this way, you just need to talk to Undaunted members in the local sleaze bar and they'll put them on your map when you ask one of them where the action is.

Hmm.. confused, I thought the lowbie dungeons were like 10-15 or something. Are you saying that you can do them each twice as you level (5-10) & (9-15)? It's been a while, and I just re-rolled a toon and am at level 9 on my new sorc, so this will be fun indeed if I can run spindle twice at the appropriate levels and gain exp and achievements.

No, these just happened to the level ranges for lfg formation. The first group dungeon is level 12, and you get quest XP only once. You get mob XP and loot if you're within 5 levels, but you can't get the quest XP + skill point more than once.

Thanks everyone for the explanations. I didn't realise I could wayshrine to the other alliances zones. Unfortunately I have had zero success using the dungeon finder. The search icon just spins away for hours, so I think it unlikely I am going to be able to do them before I level up and they then won't be available any more.

Your alternative is to (more or less) spam zone chat with LFG requests, get a group together, then port into the dungeon, rather than using the group finder. The dungeons will always be available, by the way. If you out level them you won't get mob XP or drops other than crafting mats (i.e. leather scraps) but you will still get a large amount of quest XP and a skill point, not to mention the skyshard. I soloed Fungal Grotto as level 44 just for that quest XP and the skill point. It was tough, but a lot of fun. So all is not lost.

Guilds will often sponsor dungeon runs, so there's another option.

Best way to get a group for a dungeon is to send out a zone chat LFG, then wait by the entrance to the dungeon. It can take about 10 or 15 minutes for people to show up (as they were doing something already) but from that I have always found a group to join up with.

When they show up, ask them to Group, Whisper to the ones that are already in a group and ask them if they need anyone else.

And, before you go into the dungeon, please make the lowest level person in the group the leader, this way the Bosses are not leveled to someone who is 47 and your level 15. The L47 player is there at a L15 Dungeon to chase an Achievement, they don't care if the boss is low level. If they did care, they would have done the dungeon earlier.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

Wow thanks for the tips. It is great to know that I will still be able to do the dungeons at higher level as I am a bit of a completionist :) And that tip about making the lowest level person the leader is gold. So good to know this stuff.
