Murky Crystal...

So i found this item off a kill in craglorn, 2 dropped on 2 different kills and i tried to get another but nothing...Anyone have half a clue what this is for? I already tried to use it for collectible achievement and even googled it, checked my quests to see if any of them required it... I'm literally scratching my head on this one...

Maybe a quest item. It may be for a quest you have but forgot about it.

I have had 2 in my bags (now in my guild bank because of wanting more space) and can not for the life of me find what they are for.

Murky Crystal is used to put into holders for the Neried (SP?) dungeon in craglorn. Each of your members needs to put one in each holder outside the entrance or they cannot get past poisoned water inside.

Once I get in game il get the proper dungeon name

Interesting must be a dungeon i havent done yet or something has changed. We just did Shada's Tear and did not need these and have every dungeon complete in craglorn, hopefully we can get some good information about these lol then i will go confirm it. Just to be a little more specific i did find the crystals off of goblins just outside of shada's tear

Ahh interesting... It was Shada's Tear at least that's what I was told it was intended for. It might just be that the crystal just allowed you to stand in the water without taking damage whereas if you didn't slot it you'd get ko'd

Hm, i will have to test that, unsure but i do know you have to kill the 2 side bosses in order to clean the water then cross the water to go get shada, and there is a total of 11 bosses in that entire zone lol... But some testing will be done!!!

There are several crystal holders scattered around amidst the goblins and ogres above Shada's Tear. There is also an Unlit Brazier you can activate. With crystals in place, (place them with E button) the brazier you ignite (also E button) will cast a beam of light that paths through the crystals. The goblin groups drop the crystals.

There are a few crystal holders I have never managed to get a beam of light to connect through no matter how I configure the murky or bright crystals. I have only found one instance of a bright crystal adjusting the path of the beam. If a murky is in one particular holder, the beam will take the shortest path to the next holder. If a bright one is in that same holder, the beam veers off and cuts a corner.

There are two results from completing the circuit I have found. One result is the spawning of the Duneracer world boss where the beams path ends. The other result is a treasure chest in the same location. It contains a bag of Unknown Craglorn Armor/ Weapon. Have only found junk blues in that. I thought i figured out the combination of bright/ murky locations to get the chest to spawn but i am starting to think the result may be a dice roll.

It has been slow going trying to discover any alternative combinations with murky and bright crystals. It is difficult for me to solo the Duneracer. Win some, lose some. Not the most highly trafficked area. The crystals will not reset unless the boss is dead or the chest is opened. Of course you'll occasionally get a random person passing through with a random single crystal dropping that they will place where ever. That can also slow things down if I intend to try a specific combination. One other detail which can get in the way of placing crystals where you want them is the fact that bright crystals will always have priority over murky crystals when placing them. Have had to either bank bright crystals and go retrieve them when the system was recently cleared or pass all brights to a friend so we can place them strategically.

I feel like there may still be something more to this little puzzle. I could swear that the other world boss down in that area is somehow tied to the crystals. Particularly the bright ones. The giant troll Stomper and his goblin buddys have spawned several times while I was placing crystals. I do not think it is a coincidence. Then there is the odd buff you'll get after activating the brazier with enough shards in place. Really not sure what that is about.

Got one too, I put in a CS ticket about it.

It shows as L50, sells for 0 gold, is not a quest item, collectible (can't double click), trophy, or otherwise derterminable item of use or value...

I just placed all murky crystals and got the boss. I have killed him once, but he is tough. I'll try other combinations.

You can safely delete the crystals if you already killed the boss or don't want to kill it. It's easy to collect more for next time.
