Hunters Guild (New NPC Guild Idea)

This new NPC guild, which is made up of hunters, archers and rangers, will lead you on a series of quests to hunt down and kill rare and legendary beasts scattered throughout Tamriel. The main antagonist of the quest line would be centered around the cult of Hircine, the Daedric Prince of the Hunt.

On this quest line, you can expect to fight lycanthropy-infected creatures such as Wereboars, Werebears, and Werelions or the creatures of the forest, namely Minotaurs. You can also expect to get contracts to kill monsters that are terrorizing towns or hunting down an extremely rare unicorn (which might take weeks to find in-game).

The Hunters Guild Hall would be located somewhere off the beaten path (e.g. in the middle of a forest) and managed by a few renowned hunters and rangers. This is where you would get your hunting contracts (quests). It could look something like this...

In addition to adding new content, a new Hunter Skill Line would be added as well. It would allow access to abilities such as Tame Animal (permanent animal companion), Track Beast (reading tracks or picking up scents), Hunters Trap, Hunting Spear, Slingshot (cool new ranged ability), Skinning (skin animals for crafting materials beyond pelts, such as meats), etc. It would also allow the player to craft bone weapons in ESO. The year ESO takes place is in the second era, in 2E 583, 262 years after the Guild Act was passed in the Empire. Many sanctioned guilds popped up very quickly. The Hunters Guild is entirely lore friendly.

    Or...

They could tap into the literal boatload of already existing lore that people want to see added to a game rather than pulling some new thing out of thin air.

Why add something new when this game is all about the ES lore, and when so much of that existing lore hasn't even been touched on given the interesting 1000 year prequel thing?

This is just an idea my friend. ;)

Would anyone like to have a new Hunter's Skill Line added to ESO?

I like the idea. It's like Undaunted in a way, being based on hunting powerful enemies, but more indidivual-specific, while Undaunted is clearly a group-centric activity guild.

To let you know, by the way, Fighters Guild skill line already grants you the Trap Beast ability, with both re-arming and ranged morphs of its own, so trapping abilities might not be as useful as additions.

It might serve as a fine guild to introduce with Spear-type weapons.

And one more note about suggested abilities, Track Beast would likely be used by many PvPers, especially in Cyrodiil and especially if it had a humanoid-tracking morph. It doesn't sound like it would be any better than Magelight and its morphs unless it grants spell crit, and seeing that many stealth players already have their knickers in a twist, it might add to make the gameplay field of Cyrodiil further stealth opposed.

It would require work to make it unique and useful, perhaps utility-focused, but all in all, it's a sound idea. It wouldn't necessarily even have to be a "guild" as much as a bunch of like-minded hunters.
Still, ZOS is busy with work on the upcoming additions already, so I don't see it implemented any time soon. Perhaps we'll see something similar a few years down the game's development.
