ESO Patch 1.3.4 Improvements or Issues

crimsonblade02191973
This is an open discussion for anyone who wants to post praise or complaints about the new ESO Patch 1.3.4 - I for one have noticed that the graphics are toned down from Update 3. By that I mean they are not as saturated. This gives the game a more realistic look and it undid a problem I had with Update 3. The graphics of Update 3 made my game close to being unplayable on my PC most of which is my fault cause of the quality of PC that I am on. It is pretty old and I am in the process of getting a new one but that is going to take a while. I can now play in a full screen resolution again without it crashing when I move. Overall the graphics look much better. More definition but less saturation gives it the look I am looking for in a game. I haven't played the game enough to register any complaints at this time but this discussion is open for that and anything goes. The more players who voice what is going on in their game the more Zenimax will get the message. This discussion is a place where you can make your voice heard without fear of being judged or ridiculed. So with all that being said bring it on and let your voice be heard.

Update 3 created a bunch of issues for a lot of people i think , but 1.3.4 fixed quite a few of them .

I don`t think anyone will have any kinds of complaints about 1.3.4 because it didn`t create any issues . It simply fixed quite a lot of them.

Other than that, i cannot say that i noticed any differences in the graphics to be honest . Yeah the game does run more smoothly and it might be that the graphicvs have been toned down a little bit but if that is the case, the difference is so small that i haven`t noticed it .

Plus my setting for textures is not on max , my graphics card is pretty old (Nvidia GeForce 285 ) But even that old of a card is working really well with Graphics set to high.

So yeah , no complaints from me concerning the latest patch.

Be who you want to be , do what you want to do, play the way you want to play.

The Prophet once said :``There is no perfect choice , there are only other choices. ``

Same goes for your build. There is no perfect build, there are only other builds.

My name is Draxuul and i approve this message .

@Draxuul - I am with you. I just played for about 20 minutes and I played in 720p screen resolution with no problems. My eyes may be playing tricks on me again but it looks like the graphics are still well defined but less intense or saturated. They look more realistic. What I am hoping Zenimax is doing is fixing things. They may have to do it a little at a time and roll out a patch every now and then when they get a certain amount done but I am definitely seeing an improvement and to be able to play in 720p again is awesome. Update 3 put me all the way down to Windowed mode. I didn't like it but could deal with it. I still have a curved Iron Greatsword but hey maybe that is the way they intended it to be.

Doesn't seem to have fixed many of the issues it says it fixed. Weapon swapping is still worse than it was before update 3. Bow damage still does not display, you die then find out you were being attacked and several skill animations, against you, do not show some it does not look as though you are being attacked.

Performance in Cyrodiil is amazing... until the client crashes, which can be every 20-30 minutes but just the performance in very large fights is promising. Game has always looked amazing for me but certain objects do seem sharper.

That is really swell if people are finding the game performing better on their systems!

For me, I'm finding that the game is crashing less then it was fresh out of update 3. That said, I haven't been in Cyrodiil so I can't speak for that area.

@mikeandsharrahub17_ESO - This is exactly what Zenimax needs to hear. Thank you for posting your input. I am really hoping that Zenimax will stop making the game bigger and now turn their focus to issues like this that need to be fixed. They are going to have to understand that if the game doesn't function properly it doesn't matter how big it is. People are going to quit which will ultimately put the game out of business. The game is approaching 40GB which being that large itself could turn some folks away from downloading it and if it doesn't work then there is no point in playing it. My overall opinion is they have a good game they just need to be cleaning it up instead of making it bigger.

@cyqa - Yeah, performance went way up with this patch on my old junk top as I will call it. So they are moving in the right direction. I haven't had a chance to really play a lot lately myself but decided to turn it on to see what if anything had been improved. It updated and I played in 3 different resolutions and found I could play in my old 720p which was basically given the boot with Update 3. The graphics. I don't know for sure if they changed them but it looks like the high def is still there but the colors are a lot less intense which would partly explain the increase in performance because my CPU is under less stress. They may have worked on some other performance related issues as well.

Getting this game in top shape is going to take time. Zenimax can't fix it all in one set of patches but I hope that is where they will shift their focus.

Weapon swapping is fixed for me. Fps/men leak is slightly better.

@jelliedsoup - Very good. I've seen mixed reports on the Weapon Swapping problem. On Weapon Swapping don't you have to reach level 15 or something before you can actually do this. The reason I am asking is I think I thought I saw that mentioned somewhere a long time ago and I've never actually done a weapon swap but never the less I am glad it is working for you. My concern now is they are advertising an Update 4 and they don't even have all the kinks worked out of what is already in place.

I have yet to see a single player or MMO computer game in recent memory (15-20 years) That is dead on solid. And like most MMOs, ESO is always moving forward with development and additional content. One thing to note is that the software development process, especially on the new content side, isn't a stop and go process. You don't drop everything for bug fixes as there are people who have a specialty/assignment for that task while others are doing art and design, etc. So you will always see continued planning and always see items that need fixing/tweaking...that is just how things seem to be developed, today.

I can go back as far as DOS. I remember the good old days when I'd come in from school and play games like The Bard's Tale running under DOS. Then came one of the first virtual reality games called Dungeon Master. I never once encountered bugs with those kind of games. They were perfect and perfectly made for their time but times have changed and so has technology and maybe not for the better. As many mods I have made for the other Elder Scrolls games all I know is that the computer will only do what you tell it to do. I am not a Master Script writer but I have written a script or two. I worked on one project for about a month in which I brought a Smithing system to Oblivion. I ended up having to make two stations. One for Armor and the other for Weapons because a script can only be a certain length. Well each script for each station in the end turned out to be about 750 lines of code a piece. All of this was trial and error but I finally got a perfectly working Smithing mod for Oblivion and that is when I made it available to the public and it made the Hot Files for several days but that is just a mod. We are talking about a game here and it may be such that Zenimax can't publish a bug free game no matter how many bugs they get ironed out another one will surely surface. I mean Skyrim is still bugged but Bethesda moved on and left the debugging process in the hands of modders. With ESO there is no conventional modding and there can't be. It is a different type of game so it is up to the developers to make the game, iron out the bugs and bring it to the public. My forums are for people who want to say hey this is what is happening in my game. I would like that fixed. The more places people have to report issues the more Zenimax will get the message which will lead to more bugs being fixed. From a business point of view Zenimax has to keep creating more content for the game and iron out the bugs later when reports come in. That makes perfect sense now that I have had time to think about it
