Hand to Hand Combat Skill Tree

In previous ES games I have often had a second character that specialised in fighting hand to hand (i.e. no weapons). I would love to see the introduction of a skill tree, or even an entire class that specialises in this. I want a rough and tumble brawler who can bloddy his knuckles then swill down a few mugs of ale!

Given that they even have a hand to hand animation and a basic attack I don't know why they didn't!

Perhaps it was something they thought to put in if they had the time but ended up shelving it for something else.
    I can has typing!

I'd just love to see a skirt wearing mage come running at me, flailing his wand around only to get a good solid bop on the nose :D

"all of a sudden, you knee them in the stomach, causing them to kneel over in absolute pain,(should have worn some steel huh?) their reflective scales was worthless, their talons deactivates, and the flame/lava whip dissipates"

" you then grab the Dragonknight, and punch the Dragonknight multiple times, then, you knee them in the stomach once more, then you headbutt them, then throw them to the ground"

"you pick him/her up, spit in their face, and snap their neck. other players have witnessed your brutal elimination of the Light armor staff dragonknight, they too, have light armor staff builds; they all run away, filled with absolute terror"

    How did I do?

I would love to see this. In Oblivion, i had a kahjiit who ran around in robes casting fireballs and punching guys in the balls.

I can only see this making sense with fist weapons. No matter how good you are at hand to hand combat, someone who's equally proficient at handling any weapon will win the fight.

Well I played Hand to hand combat in Morrowind and Oblivion, and while you did less damage compared to someone wielding a weapon. I can tell you, I squashed everything that even came close to my fists.

Morrowind : Your accuracy was based around your current maximum stamina, hand to hand wasn't dealing any damage but draining stamina instead until the target was out of stamina and fell on the ground. When it was KO you could basicaly beat the guy to death without having to worry about his big edgy sword.

Oblivion : Your damage was based around your current maximum stamina, hand to hand did damage against both health and stamina pools. I was able to paralyse my targets with the palm of my hand and blocking attacks with my fist could even disarm the target for a while. You just couldn't loose against humanoid targets, once they were disarmed they were just free kills.

But otherwise, back to the topic.

I agree with your post, I think it would be more balanced to add some kind of fist weapon tree and make its attack inspired by the previous unarmed combat seen in Morrowind and Oblivion. Sinds you would still requiere the extra items for the attack rating and sets bonuses.

Also on another note, I wouldn't mind to see Polearm and Throwing weapons making a comeback!

In ESO everything has to be balanced, but realistically hand to hand is no match for an opponent with a weapon, so they can't really balance it

What they could do is introduce an unarmed skill tree, but allow you to use unarmed abilities while using other weapons

small damge / high attack speed / increased block (reflex save).
Heavy weapons require time to swing and hit due to weight and awkwardness.
Cant be hit by a broadsword if you step inside the swing radius and uppercut

Agree you need gauntelts and wrist guards at a minimum

While there are weapons with weapon skill trees I could technically play this game without ever attacking with the weapon,

I think in a fantasy game where I can summon daedra or wave my hands around to cast spells it's just as likely that I could defeat an armed opponent bare handed.

I personally think the idea of fist weapons defeats the purpose and appeal of hand to hand.
