What is it with dark talons?

I don't know if I'm doing something wrong here.

Why dark talons only works half the times and on half the enemies? Is it supposed to be random like this?

    I notice it with all skills... I figured it was just lag, but it happens way to often to be lag all the time.

    Depends on the enemy. It's a snare ability and some enemies can't be snared. Look in the upper right hand corner when using it sometimes it will say "Enemy is too powerful for that effect"

    I know that and I don't get the message. I'm using it mostly on random enemies. I noticed it on all sorts of mobs. And if I try again some will get CCed. So it's definitely not the case of mobs being immune to CC ;)

    But when I use it on a group of 3 non-special mobs, I expect all 3 mobs to be CCed.

    I haven't used talons before 1.3.3 so I can't compare to how it worked before.

    It's borked. I just stopped complaining as anything associated with dragonknights that's discussed attracts the 'please nerf them' crowd.

    You have to be fairly close. It's 8 meter diameter but it does not fire at 8 meters. Since I started using it closer in, it's been pretty reliable. Burning Talons is pretty fine alright.

    I find that it fires just fine. But it doesn't keep the enemies in place. They are moving within it and moving out of it and still attacking. These are lower level enemies/mobs with called in cats etc.

    It's now 6, as of awhile ago, which has exacerbated the issue when any lag is present.

    Exploits suck. Don't blame just the game, blame the players abusing them!

    -Playing since July 2013, back when we had a killspam channel in Cyrodiil and the lands of Tamriel were roamed by dinosaurs.

    in pve i find it works 90% of the time, i think its mainly due to trying to jugde the range as 6m is a great deal.

    Because of the change to CC immunity in PvP, Dark Talons no longer works on enemies who have recently been hit with any type of CC.

    Previously, any kind of root was not affected by the CC immunity you receive after being CCed, but now it is. So, you used to be able to Talon everything and everybody no matter what, but now (especially in large PvP battles) much of the time it will no longer root because there is so much other CC flying around.

    I don't think people understood the implicit nerf to Talons (and Encase, and Stampede, et al.) when they read that line in the patch notes.

    Dark Talons is just so overpowered that it refuses to work, like a high-level Pokemon who doesn't respect you because you don't have enough badges yet.

    As I understand, in one of the previous patches, they gave enemies the ability to break CC like players do
    And so did many brave men, women, and beast fall to the end of Beta, never to be heard from again. All that is left, is whispers of the adventures they had.

    100% agreed... soft cc being subject to hard cc immunities on a shared timer is just nasty :(.

    Spamming roots around is quite annoying and seriously broken.

    We have roll dodge to get out of these, but it's not enough when u just can spam roots over and over. I do this all the time I'm a DK, and Sorc can do so too with Encase.

    I say that an immunity to soft-cc could make everything more pleasant.

    That's great and all... but maybe some of us PvE guys are getting sick of our abilities being broken due to PvP whining.

    It's broken and it's not the end, with next patch 'Dark Talons' will be just the name of a beautician shop in Skywatch.

    It shows on skill bar it can be uses at anytime but its range is 6 meters which is roughly a pacw or two away from your face. If yoi have burning embers equipped too, when that lights dark talons can hit. Its range is 5 meters.

    Any skill with 6 meters or less can help you gauge the hit distance for dark talon. Also it can be used to initiate fight.
