Tremulous✭✭✭If the quests in the Daggerfall Covenant are to believed most Argonians are descended from Crocodilians. As the relatives of these mighty reptiles it can safely be assumed that Argonians have a similar hearing structure.
To keep it short Argonians can hear low frequency sounds in the 50-1,500 Hz range (Humans can hear sounds at frequencies from about 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz) through both their ears, (mammalian stapedius muscle aka a hole covered with a membrane; kinda like a drum) jaw, and in addition to this sensory equipment, crocodilians have apical pits on the scales of their face and bodies which are sensitive to vibrations traveling through water.
So pretty much Argonians can hear you via ear holes, their jaw, and armpits while swimming.1 -
