Did my first dungeon last night as a dps templar ..... yes you read that right

I ran with this group last night and we did the sewers dungeon. (I am super slow to level) and I was a DPs Templar, after every one in zone had kicked me and was like no Templars cant be dps - you fail, heal or GTFO.


IT WAS AMAZEBALLS. The story was rich, the enemies were tough, the dungeon blew my mind.

Mate, anyone who says Templars are not good on DPS has no clue about what he writes.

Templars have great AoE DPS abilities. Is the single minded mentality of many that do not see it.

Is this on EU? I've never seen a dungeon group recruiting in Wayrest that was interested in kicking any dps.

They've likely not been told about Burning Light and Blazing Spear. Through some Biting Jabs in and you've cleared a horde.

Even if i would not really consider a dps templar a worthy party member (note that i play a templar myself :P ) , that is something you only need to worry about on vr lvls ... even then to a point.

At low lvl this kind of thing is ridiculous.

Hell yeah Templar DPS. People need to realize how amazing templar DPS can really be. When I heal in dungeons I still tend to out DPS puncturing sweep and spear shards alone.

I'm only VR5, but dual wield Templar dps has been absolutely amazing so far. The sustained AoE damage is unmatched, especially since you can start throwing Whirlwind if you happen to run into magicka issues. The self heals also make you way more survivable than other classes.

I can't imagine this build not being competitive at max VR.

sounds like you had fun I wish I could get any kind of group for any kind of dungeon. spent two hrs waiting last time and just gave up

Yes, this happened to me a lot on my Templar. When you are making a build out of a class that's associated with a function, you are going to have some rough moments. I'd imagine Nightblade/Sorc tanks run into this often as well.

My solution was to heal the dungeons. I'd go back later in a more reasonable group and dps/off heal. The good news is that it does get better in the higher levels. I've run my tank in quite a few groups now that have had either one or two Templars present as dps.

Do what's fun for you. Just keep in mind if your concept is not 'typical' there will be complainers here and there.

the problem I have isn't a Templar being a dps...

the problem I have is when auto finder puts you in our group as a healer, because you have healer as a role...then I have to kick you and get someone who will heal, since getting DPS and DK-Tanks is easy.

So if you are going to do that...FFS...please un select healer role if you intend on doing NO healing.

My next class is going to be Templar, I plan on bringing resto-staff and heal skillbar just in case. Id rather do the dungeon and heal than sit there waiting for a healer because I need to be a baby about being DPS...


Expect people to kick you as a Templar if the group is full and they need a healer though...sometimes you need a healer...and well...nothing is lamer than a class capable of healing that doesn't at leave that as an option....

Join a guild with a TS server, make new friends and then never worry and getting a group for anything ever again

Templar can smash one button and deal an okay dps. Those guys who kicked you have some sort of mental disorder.
