Help with searing strike

so searing strike lasts 10.5 seconds, and (for me) does 594 damage over the duration. increasing by 9% every 2 seconds. what is the total % increase? and is one morph clearly better than the other? eg both better for pve so on.

i know its like compound interest but its late and its been a while since i did math =P

    I definitely prefer the Unstable Flame morph. I am not a math guy either but i would just be roughly 45% right?

    On the question of which morph is better: 4man dungeons where you have very long sustained battles with a single target? Searing is better since as long as you keep reapplying it, it will continue to raise. Most other things the healing is better.

    It last for 8 secs and increases 4 times (once every 2 secs) by 12% each time. It doesn't increase past the first cast's duration. The max it can hit is 4*12% = 48% more than the base tick.

    If you keep reapplying before it times out the tick stays at the highest point (base+48%) but does not increase any further.

    Which is why in high-end Trials DPSing you need to be absolutely certain you apply it before it times out, or your DPS will drop.
