What exactly means "casting a spell"?

Well, the title of this threat already tells the core of my question.

There are several item sets in ESO where the set-bonus says: "Casting a spell..." or "While casting or channeling a spell..."
What exactly does that mean? Does the effect only occurs on spells with a cast time? Or do spells with instand cast time also trigger these effects.
For example Soulshine Set: Do i get the spell power bonus for instant-cast spells as well?
For example Lord's Mail set: Do i remove negative effects with any spell i cast even those with noch cast time?

For me that would be a very important information if those set boni are interesting for me. My focus is on PvP and i prefer instant-cast spells thats the reason i am asking this question.

The Soulshine set has been changed. It now adds 22(?) to spell power and correctly states that on the tool tip.

Please read and understand my post before giving an answer to a question i did not ask!

I did not ask for the ammount of spell power the set bonus from Soulshine gives.
I want to know if this bonus also counts for instand-cast spells (spells with no casting time) or only for spells with a casting time or channeled spells.

The time it takes to cast a spell has no effect, well, the added bonus to the spell would not take place until the spell is actually in effect. So, if the spell takes 2 seconds to cast, then it takes 2 seconds for the effect to take place. If it's instant, then the effect is instant.

But, a spell is a spell is a spell. It does not matter if it's instant or takes time to cast.

However the best way to see the actual affects is to use an Add On like Foundry Tactical Combat and watch the flying numbers, then you will see the exact effects and when.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

"Casting a Spell" refers to the time it takes for some spells/abilities to activate.

"Channelling a Spell" refers to sells/abilities that last a while, you essentially are casting it while you are using it, ie you are channelling it into use.

The Soulshine Set, Spells that are instant (no casting time, no channeling time) do not trigger the effect as the effect ONLY triggers while the spell is casting, as instance spells have no cast time, there is no trigger. (this set is almost useless)

Lord's Mail Set, does get triggered by instant casts spells.

Now the fun question, what is classed as a spell? Its sometimes hard to work out which class skills are spell or weapon skills.
