Make sure the URL has the image format, like .png, .gif, etc. If its not an image url, you won't get the image to show up.
Otherwise, the workaround for pictures that you don't want to upload to another site is to create a draft thread in one of the forums that lets you upload pictures, like Bug Reports or Help. You do not post this thread, but it will generate a code link for your image. Copy-paste this code into your post that you made in a different forum.

✭✭✭✭✭So to break down the steps of how I would go to post your picture, @russelmmendoza just for anyone interested.
1. Go to this link: https://imgur.com/gallery/RaEBJfm because the others didn't work for me.
2. Right Click on the image
3. Choose "open image in new tab"
4. Check that the new URL has the image format, in this case .png. If it doesn't, the image won't show up as an image.
5. copy the new URL https://i.imgur.com/5VKozIv.png
6. in the post, use the code {img} URL {/img } with square brackets instead of wavy ones or paste the URL into the image formatting bar
image under spoiler;
I find that the key to posting pictures from the internet is Steps 2-4. Opening the image in a new tab gets you the image URL and that will work for the forums as long as there is an image format like .png, .jpg. or .gif.Edited by VaranisArano on March 7, 2019 1:13PM1 -

BBCode (message boards & forums) link.
paste to forum.

The link in the number 1 step of varanis is the wrong link.
The link in the number 5 step is the correct url/link to post. The https://i.imgur.com/5VKozlv.png is the correct one.0 -

Yep, the first link is the link to your gallery, which I used to get to the image link, in step 5. Steps 2 to 4 are explaining how to go from a gallery to the actual image link.
The same steps work for any image, like from a google search.
For example, let's say I want to post a comic by Isriana: http://isriana.tumblr.com/image/173647139794
That's the link to her tumblr, but doesn't help me post the image.
Right click on the image.
Choose "Open image in new tab"
Copy-paste the image URL.
Input the Image URL to the forums here.

Hit the 'copy' option on Direct Link
come here to your post, click on the Image (icon)
in the box that pops up, paste (cntrl + V)
voila
all done
