Eso deleting characters

i just purchased the imperial edition and after the install the game decide to delete my already existing toons did this happen to anyone else???

You shouldn't have had to install anything, so I'm going to go ahead and guess that you didn't simply upgrade your old account and instead bought a new one.

Characters should not get deleted randomly, it's possible that instead of upgrading an account, you created a new one as suggested above. However, if this is not the case, can you please contact our support team, they will be happy to investigate.

i got the upgrade and when i relaunched the client it went thru an update and when i logged in to my same account as i was using it deleted my other characters and started a new game but i will send a ticket in for the problem

You are sure you logged on the correct megaserver as before yes?

Hello, @Snagglypus! When you load up the ESO launcher and click the "Play" button, is the launcher defaulting to your megaserver of choice (NA/EU) or the PTS? We have occasionally heard of the launcher playing tricks and selecting a different megaserver.

As mentioned above by ZOS_MichelleA, I also think it's possible that you were not logging into the same server that your character was at.

If that was the case don't you think the OP would have noticed a 20GB+ download happening, since for some reason this game needs a totally different client to play each server?

Well, he says that he needed to do an install in his original post. So yes.


The mere fact that it wanted to install implies that something went wrong (either the launcher using the wrong server, or a whole new game, as suggested earlier).

NA is the sever i always been on and it the same server that shows so i believe im on the same server i dont see how i would have changed in the process

it is defaulting to NA...thats the smae sever i have been using

How exactly did you buy the imperial edition (i.e., from ZOS, steam, elsewhere, etc, and how much did it cost? ... just trying to figure out which you bought, whether it was the upgrade or whatever)

How did you apply it / install it, was it just a case of typing in a code somewhere?

I sometimes have problems with the game logging me into the pts server instead. Maybe it's that.

Sorry everyone for the late response.... but i got together with some people from tec support and was able to recovery my toons.... it was a graphic error and needed to reboot everything...thanks for the helpful responses

next time before you start off a thread titled "ESO deleting characters" which is very controversial (in general discussion not customer service forum), why not just open a ticket or even call them on thier 24hr toll free darn number. You really could have said anything non accusatory like oh, "cant see my characters upon login" and put it in the right forum.

Your thread is like yelling fire in a theater, its wrong unless there really IS a fire.
