This is not a joke! The process will re melt the solder joints that tend to break over time.
I fixed two cards in that process myself, just make sure to remove the heatsinks and everything that doesn't belong to the original "layout" of your GPU. You want the card naked so to speak.
Since the card is already broken you have nothing to lose, after the process put the pieces back together apply a new heat paste and maybe you can use the card again for another few years. I would advice to open your kitchen window, GPUs tend to smell a bit while baked.
