Can we have a trade chat channel?

That way people wouldn't always be posting WTB and WTS posts constantly in zone chat. Plus, this channel should be global rather than zone specific. I think it would be really helpful for both buyers and sellers.

There are a few things that make this difficult (you're not the first person to ask):

    1. It would still be spammed with unrelated chats.
    2. This game is on a megaserver system. That means that even if we have 1/10th the population of WoW, we still will have more people online than would ever be in a trade chat channel in that game. And we all know how insane that chat channel looks in that game. There would just be too many people.
    3. Segregating global chat by zone lets people be a little more specific about what they're selling. I don't advertise my VR12 glyphs in Rawl'kha, etc.

Requested this feature many times. Perhaps they don't want to sanction trade outside the established economic system? I don't care really, just tired of seeing WTS [xxxxxxx] in chat.

But at least its not gold spam. :p

I agree on having a trade channel, but i i think there would be too many people in a global channel. All the zones/shards combined would be a mess.

I realize there's no way to keep stupid people from blabbering away about unrelated things. Alas, there is no cure for stupid. But it would at least HELP clean up zone chat. And okay, make it still be zone specific then, fine by me.

    1. They could simply filter out all messages without WTB WTS WTT, and vice-versa in regular zone chat.
    2. Put a delay on the messages, only 1 of them appears every half second or every second. That way, the messages que up and get spit out in the order they were submitted and the chat doesn't look like it just snorted a pound of coke.
    3. I hear people advertising high level items (especially glyphs) all the time in low level zones. People selling vr 1-12 glyphs in Stonefalls is fairly common.

Also, they should give everyone an item index that people can use to link items even if they don't have them, and give filters so that people can just see messages with certain items/motifs listed.

I think you're being overly optimistic about how that would look. All that would happen is that people would advertise in both channels, resulting in double-posts for anyone who was in both.

I would like a Zone Trade Chat channel.

However I have to wonder if people even sell anything in Zone Chat. I have a few extra recipes and several Motif's (1 to 9 and some multiples of various races) that I don't need and would like to sell, but no one ever bites when I put out a WTS.

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

Be more creative with your ads. I've earned well over 500k from zone chat trades/crafting advertisements since launch.

I am like and seeing WTS, WTB, LFG in the zone chat -- sometimes I am interested in seeing that and other times I am more interested in "chat" in the chat channel. I am can block out the WTS, WTB, LFG easy enough if I need too.

Also, If I am selling an item or looking for a group, I also chat at the same time to help to pass the time for my ads.

In short, I like the current system.

If trade becomes global (way too many people aside), people would chat in that channel because they reach more people.

If trade is not on by default, people would still spam zone because they reach a wider audience.

If you put a spam limit or any limit on trade channel, people would just go back to zone chat.

I actually like what Zos did with Zone chat. Other games have tried separate channels and it doesn't work all that well. So they just kept it simple.

They do. It's just that what you're selling everybody has in abundance. At least until justice system comes out and you'd have to farm that stuff outside of towns or risk getting a bounty.

If you want to sell it, sell it cheap, you'll get some bites.

Yep. Also, what price are you selling the motifs at? If it's anything above 600 don't expect a single sale. usually they go for 350-500, with 600 being the absolute ceiling for basic motifs.

I'm not sure how crafters advertising their wares are "jackasses," but yes, people wanting to sell things in an in-game economy will foil you once again.

Because trade chats worked in every other game.

People will still spam zone because that's the one people read. :P

I am all for a /trade channel. That way, you could remove it from your chat window when not interested in trading, and could watch it when specifically trying to trade.

I'd like it so that you could advertise to the "newbie" zone of all three alliances at once, to the "first tier" zone of all three alliances, etc.
    3. I hear people advertising high level items (especially glyphs) all the time in low level zones. People selling vr 1-12 glyphs in Stonefalls is fairly common.
By the looks of messages on /zone, the channel is shared between the veteran and newbie version of the zone. AD characters will be level V1 or V2 in Stonefalls, DC characters will be level V6 or so. So it's reasonable enough to advertise V1-12 glyphs to those people. Though it might be a bit scary for genuine newbies who have all of 20 gold to their names to see purple recipes up for sale at 650k.

They could separate out newbie and veteran /zone, but I've certainly seen veterans helping out newbies with gifts of money and runs through dungeons.
