Castles

What if ?

We had castles keeps etc.. that spawned randomly in each map area that had to be stormed by groups to take. Kind of like in pvp but in pve where you had to use siege etc.. to take them. The npc's could get stronger based on the number of people attacking them. the longer it stays up the stronger the npc would get like more spells for them to use or higher number of healers archer etc.
maybe take the dark anchors and have the npc build a castle around it if it stays up to long. like start with a dark anchor that changes into a outpost ,then a keep, then a castle.

You could link the general spawns to castles in certain area for achievements like a dark anchor would have a certain rank npc as a boss then a outpost have a higher rank etc..
a lot of us like the storming of keeps in pvp and I think this type of thing in pve would give guilds another fun activity.

what are your thoughts

Thank you for reading

Random spawning castles? Sounds like a major immersion breaker to me.

*wanders along the wilderness happily picking flowers* Oh look, that guy is waving at me, looks like he needs help.

    *Splat!*

WTH! A giant castle just fell out of the sky and splatted that poor guy!

what about seeing mobs building them or even better players building them with easy gathering resource quests and once they are done the events starts. but lets be honest, zenimax will never make the game sandboxy anyway

Dark anchors (that is what you mean by "rifts" right?) inside existing castles would make more sense. I could see it as a cool design in future content updates.

There was a discussion a while back about having random Anomalies spawn inside of keeps in Cyrodiil where players had to fight off an attacking horde of Daedra. I don't recall if ZOS ever responded to it.

if we can have dark anchors, we can have castles spawn from the other side as well, deadra castles :)

Dark anchors are in fixed locations though. Just having a building pop up out of nowhere would be extremely weird.

Actually, no, we can't. The reason why is spelled out by the Main Quest, but suffice to say that something that big is not going to make it from Coldharbour to Nirn.

If dark anchor can be used to bring stuff to us then it can just as easily be used to bring building materials for keep castles etc..
Maybe set up rituals npcs around anchors that start summing pieces for the next upgrade
for example dark anchor spawns from ritual then after a certain amount of time they gather again and start to spawn walls or first floor for a outpost
then they use rituals again to spawn corners of a keep, then walls connecting them.

I just got a mental picture of Clannfears dragging blocks into place being "urged" along by Scamps while Dremora oversee the entire operation. Like most supervisors, the Dremora wouldn't be doing any of the physical work. :p

A fort type of structure could be built pretty fast, as for a castle ..Visually, maybe something epic like the earth shaking and a castle rising up from the ground as it breaks through the terrain, though maybe only as a very rare event?

I see what you are saying, and it would be a cool concept. Instead of seeing castle pop out of nowhere, I think it would be better if bandits took over a city or delves that are empty and meant for quests were taken over by trolls or goblins. It would be cooler if you were in Riften and it was under constant threat from a daedric invasion or giants that are mad we think they're dumb.

Also, if loot was a thing for level appropriate players, it would encourage higher level players to migrate to severely underpopulated zones, especially the 3rd alliance zones. Then maybe it won't take so long to find people who want to do a dolmen or public dungeon.

I like this idea that it would bring higher levels to the lower areas encouraging larger population

I could see it for myself :)

Im running around picking herbs, running from node to node, and suddenly a fog appears not noticeable at first, so I keep running around thinking its gonna rain, I like rain, its comforts me, the fog gets ticker and ticker, and suddenly SLAM my head just hit something hard in the dense of fog, the fog disapears slowly, and BAM, out of the fog, where my bruiced head is a huge wall appears. I take a step back, still only walls I can see when looking up.

I get scared, starting to run away, but my curiosity takes over me, I turn around, and my eyes has caught this awesome epic castle with dragons flying around and Molag Bals Queen standing in the top of the highest tower. Yelling to me, now I will see what my insides look like on the outside !!!

Yeah, it's not like there have ever been whole islands that just appear and disappear throughout the game.
