REQUEST: Play Soundtracks From Previous TES Games.

No offense to the creator of the music in this game but it feels incredibly generic, which is why I'm requesting a way for us to play sound tracks from previous TES games (I personally LOVE the music from Morrowind).

So what do you guys think? would you like to have the option in the Audio tab and be able to play Morrowind / Oblivion / Skyrim tracks ?

I actually like the music here enough to sometimes listen to the OST while I am not in game.
I'd really like the ability to add the older songs in as well though.

My favourite ESO song is Greenheart, because part way through the song they recreate the refrain from an Oblivion track and then I get all nostalgic while I play.

I remember when I first started playing, thinking "man, this music is pretty good!" as I was out running around Bleakrock. Then I got to Bal Foyen, and it was the same music. On to Stonefalls, same music. Dashaan? Same music. The Rift? Yup, same music. But it didn't end there. Fighting something was the same music. In a cave was the same music. It didn't matter where I was or what I was doing, because it was all the same music.

Now I just turn it off and listen to a mix of my favorite songs from the other Elder Scrolls games most of the time, since at least then I'll have a variety of songs that are different enough to know which one is actually playing.

Sucks they only got Mr. Soule to do the title track on ESO. Brad Derrick did a decent job, but it didn't have that certain "je ne sais quoi" that the others do.

Yeah I agree, we need more soundtracks and also one when we enter combat. It would greatly increase that WOW factor.

Yes please, the guy who made this soundtrack apparently ran out of ideas many times and had to use dumbed down bits from the old tracks.

BTW Soule betrayed us, he's making Neverquest Next

This one is at least partially present in ESO:

I think it might be in Skyrim too but not sure.

I do love the Morrowind sountrack. I love it enough that I'll listen to some of it, load up my low level EP alt and feel strangely at home in that alien world with all the mushrooms and nix hounds.

Morrowind soundtrack would be such win, especially if it's all polished up.
I do really like the new soundtracks too, but variety is always good so it would be swell if they added some of these!

I have no objection to the music. I quite like it. I just wish there was more of it. MMO music tends to get repetitive due to the nature of MMOs.

I do not think all of the tracks would fit our time period (theme song for Skyrim in particular), there are a lot of songs from the single player games that would. Who wouldn't want to be running around in Mournhold (city of light! city of magic!) and not hear the theme song to Morrowind playing?

I would love to hear older TES soundtracks, since I was a little disappointed with the ESO soundtrack. I expected more variety, like a unique theme for each major zone and then additional exploration, battle, and dungeon tracks. Given the development time and monetary input (plus they went to the length of getting Malukah? to record tavern tracks), I thought this was a reasonable expectation. But there aren't any zone-specific tracks, or they sound so similar that they're indistinguishable unless you're actively listening for differences.

The one unique theme I noticed was the song that plays in the Hollow City. Unfortunately, it also plays in other areas (such as Eastmarch). I hate this track and never want to hear it again. I would be so happy if I could disable it permanently, replacing it with another track or even just with silence.

If I could have one non-theme track added to ESO, it would be "Far Horizons" (Skyrim OST); it's my favorite to date. I'd like to add all the other tracks, too, but only so that they would play in certain regions.

I've tried this, but it just doesn't feel as satisfying.
It's...strange to be picking flowers to epic combat music, then fighting people to the sounds of a quiet village theme.

I'd really like if they added in an option to be able to mix in the previous games soundtracks, but have them be situational as they are supposed to be.
Get into combat, could hear the ESO combat them, could hear an Oblivion combat theme, could hear a Skyrim combat theme, or could hear a Morrowind combat theme.
I'd really like that kind of diversification but familiarity to the in game music.

    No, no, and no!

The music in Skyrim was basically World of Warcraft music with a different orchestra.

I mean, the tunes sound awfully similar to the music for Barrens/Mulgore/Durotar...for that reason, and that reason alone, I say no!

No. I would turn off the music altogether if they did that. Why? Because I want those pieces of music to remind me of those games, not ESO. I'm all in favor of more new music though.

I hear a lot of Oblivion's music while running around in Auridon. I, too, wish Jeremy Soule had done all the music for Eso as he did for the TES games. I own (as in bought with real money) all three of the earlier soundtracks and listen to them frequently. I especially like the Morrowind version of the main theme.

Lalin del Sombra - Bosmer Sorcerer (alchemy/enchanting)

Sanna yos'Phalen - Altmer Sorcerer (provisioning)

Hmm haven't read them but my guess is they're old and not "hip" anymore. Morrowind is a slow-paced game that doesn't hold your hand, which is one reason I love it but could be exactly why youngsters don't.

Never played Oblivion. At the time I heard generally negative reviews about it from former Morrowind players.

This topic is old but I agree. Listen , ESO doesn't rly have many of soundtracks and if you're playing with Music (ON) after 1 week of playing you will get depressed. Same tunes over and over and over again. Some of them are OK , but some of them is pretty lame. I suggest that ESO folder could contain music folder with all .mp3 or .ogg or whatever format and anyone could import for example their own soundtrack from any game or previous Elder scroll game. Why couldn't this be done? WHy should I Mute Music and play some music from Elder Scrolls game series in backsground on youtube for example.

Morro/Skyrim music sounded just as generic as ESO's after a while. After hearing the same soundtracks for the 300th time I disabled music in all previous titles, ESO is no exception.
The music is great in all of them, but they are all repetitive and get stale after a while. The problem is the looping. All music should be divided by zone/area and have longish breaks between them not to become repetitive too fast.
And for god's sake, let us have the option to disable combat music.

In honesty I believe the game's entire Audio needs to be revamped. Give us an option to toggle Battle Music off so only the Ambient soundtrack plays continuously, as well as adding in as you said "historical" pieces from previous games that are linked to their respective regions in Tamriel.
