Repair Skill

adam.s.jonesub17_ESO
So, there are currently 50 levels to crafting 40 of them useful. Why not add a level 50 skill that allows us to repair the gear of that crafting profession?

Though I agree with being able to repair your gear, especially part of the crafting skill, I don't think it should be easy to get. The game needs some gold sink.

This should have a high cost in skill points. I'd say 1 skill point per piece of armor and weapon

... Are you meaning without the use of a repair kit?

It's a gold sink, you buy a repair kit or you do without.

No there should not be even more SP sinks right now.

Yes we should be able to repair our gear using Bars/Wood/Cloth/Leather, Profession level based, nothing more. At worst tie it to the same passive that increases chances for higher tier improvement mats via decon/refining. Meaning, you could repair White/Green of your Profession level by default. Blue requires 1/3, Purple requires 2/3, gold requires 3/3. These are:

    BS - Metal Extraction
    Clothing - Unravelling
    WW - Wood Extraction.

However, there should STILL be the option to have any NPC repair it too, not everyone even crafts. That keeps a gold sink in the game for those who use it.

You mean we should be able to "repair" the armor we crafted? That makes way too much sense. We need to go to the bar tender in a tavern to get our gear fixed, obviously they are the experts!

We have been joking on this in our guild for months. We can create from scratch but must be to incompetent to stick 4 more pieces of cloth on it to fix it. Yet the merchant trader on the road can repair from heavy to light anything.

We should be able to repair out gear, especially if we can craft it. It can cost mats, it can take tiers of Skill Points. One skill point to repair each level of tailoring in clothing for instance. So, to be able to repair Cotton, it would take 3 skill points in clothing repair. Same with the other crafting lines.

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

the game is jampacked with gold sinks. While I think repair costs are one of the reasonable ones, the game could do with a great deal fewer gold sinks.

Agreed, but ZOS wants inflation strictly minimised.

Personally I think if they reduced the cost of horses, and allowed us more mounts, we would spend more on that.

I have 100k atm, most I've ever had at once. No way am I going to drop 42k of that on one of those admittedly very tempting speed horses. So much money... Maybe I just need to hang around Rawl'kha more often and get more gold.

You know, if the mounts were shared, the price wouldn't be so bad, though I suppose all my alts can deal with the Imp ED horse.

This entire post is really just me trying to talk myself out of an expensive horse. Apologies.

How about a skill in each profession to make repair kits more effective, like how oblivion kinda worked.
I do what I can, when I can, to provide in game help to those seeking it. @RoyMallis
