EXP gains seem off.

So, I am grinding some NPCs in Coldharbour right now, just to pass the time while watching TV, and I am noticing that I am getting a really low amount of EXP from killing monsters, even though I am doing all the damage.

I am level 47, and I am killing level 44 Ogrims at the "Tower of Lies", and I am getting EXP in the 20s every time I kill something. I know I am getting EXP gains of 20-29 because I am using an EXP gain tracking addon.

You out leveled the area. Go some where else

Most of us figured out you don't get XP for grinding mobs 3 or more levels under you on the starters islands. Where have been all this time? ^^

You get 100% full xp for fighting monsters up to 5 levels under your level.
After that (6+ levels) you get 0%.
    There is no inbetween.

So, no. That's not his issue.

Possibly a bug with your addon, or the game. I haven't fought those particular mobs in so long I cant recall what they give.

Many of the addons that tracked xp have been buggy lately due to api updates/etc.

But I know pretty much everything in the outdoors of cold harbour gave 100-300 xp per kill. Group pd (village of the lost) give significantly less (very dumb design).
The one 5 man instance there, also gives insanely less (around 20 per kill).

I didn't out level the area and I was getting 1-5 EXP max. Hard times. I'd still like an explanation.

Well, a broken addon is definitely one explanation.

until you hit vet level questing, dolmen/worldboss grind, and public dungeon grinds are all better exp then farming mobs FYI.

look at your exp on the top left hand corner; kill a mob and see how much it gave to see if it's your add-on or not.

I've noticed addon XP values do not always match actual XP gains. Take it with a grain of salt. Do the actual math for the kill by looking at XP before and after.

Not public dungeons. If you've already completed all of those in a zone, they don't give good XP. Too much down time. Also, public dungeon XP was nerfed into the ground a long time ago. Farming mobs effectively is really the fastest way to gain XP. That's why so many people do it.

If you float your mouse over the Character Bar, you will see your experience. Write the number down, kill a mob, then see the difference. If you kill more than one mob, then divide that value by the number of mobs.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.
