Smart Heal adjustment?

I like the idea of not having to target specific players to heal them but the Smart Heals should heal your group members first before other players specifically in PVP.

Id like it so if u aimed the staff at friendly it would heal them also

Current Smart healer = target any 'friendly' with the lowest health within range.
Having 'setting' to smart healing would be nice

Some players like the current way but most want smart healing to heal their team first (which will mean if your member is at 99% heath but the non group member next to you is at 1%, your team member will get healed to 100% and the other guys is going to die)

Having an a few user settings to allow you to 'tweak' this would be nice.

As a healer I would be pissed if that heal hit the one that was at 99% rather than the one that needed it most, regardless of group.

i'm much more irritated when my group member at 5% doesn't get the heal cuz a friendly with less gets it instead. I need to be able to heal the people i can communicate with in voice chat first. Also, if i was able to target people and heal them specifically i could heal the guy that needs it most. Is there a reason it can't work that way. Smart heals prioritize group members unless some one is targeted specifically?

In an dungeon instance, we have almost finished off the boss, but everyone is almost dead, just need to keep the tank up for another 5 seconds but only enough mana for one more heal and potions are on cool down and I am on low health myself.

Trigger heal and some random (dead) NPC gets healed instead...................WTF.

I am hoping for some better healing options once Restoration line is added. Breath of Life can only heal 3 targets which is not enough...

Yeah... healing... odd issue to take on with such deliberately sub optimal healing mechanics. Sure it would be nice to have some measure of smartness to heals, but in some situations smart heal will be more a detriment. Say you can set it to prioritize party members first, then Guildies, then everyone else. Situation may arise that you would prefer to heal someone else, but instead it heals a Guildie. Or you may want to heal a Guildie but it heals a party member. Sure, I'd say most of the time its a good idea, bit every now and then I feel like you'd get a "oh god***it don't do that you stupid game." moment. Though to be fair there's plenty of that going on with healing as it is.

Maybe the incoming spell crafting features will introduce some improved mechanics with respect to Restoration magic. IMO for now I think it's just going to be annoying even if it were smarter.

Healing springs for target heals... Rapid regeneration for quick in-combat heals.

I think the system is currently fine as is. Some adjustments can be made, but nothing as dramatic as suggested. Just my opinion of course.

The reason I need to hard target someone is because they need a full heal NOW. They don't have time to wait for a HoT.

It is that dramatic. But only in group PvP if you play templar.

In dungeons or trials, you have a set amount of players. It's hard to heal the wrong target.

For a resto healer it doesn't matter as much, since Healing Springs or Rapid Regeneration/Mutagen are more or less free to use in terms of magicka cost. I can spam them indefinitely on my VR12 sorc in PvP.

The issue is the templar Restoring Light skills tree v.s. smart healing in PvP. You have the worse magicka management in the game. Expensive class healing skills that needs to be used with caution to avoid oom.

But than you often have to cast Honor of the Dead/BoL 5-8 times in a row to heal yourself or a member once. The heals ends up elsewhere. That is dramatic, considering you will be completely out of magicka by the time you're done, sometimes even dead.

And yes, we can of course (as healing templars) only use cheap restoration staff heals. But that's like telling a nightblade to only use normal crouch, because his cloak sometimes bugs out lol.

I would love it if my single target heals target whoever I was pointing/looking at. I hate when I'm trying to keep someone specific alive in a fight (a VR12 who is taking on 4 people), but the heal goes to some random person behind me.

I concur. I find it a bit silly that we use the healing staff for passive heals and spells only. It would be very nice just to be able to heal a person by aiming at them, even if you could only heal 1/4 of the weapon damage.

It would be a nice thing to do.

Otherwise they should change the name to "*** healing".

The number of times i died saving someone instead by accident is too damm high.

yep, my guildie is a dragonknight needing to be in melee range, it's completely fail to have to stand on top of him to heal him. I should be able to target him from max distance and single target heal, especially when he is trying to use his banner or talons.

The smart heal system is a great idea, but like much of the game was developed in an amateurish manner. It is like they hired experience in the creativity department but went on the cheap for the actual programing and such. There mere fact NPCs get the heals is wrong.

I say, make sure it heals the healer as first priority. Make it a setting that if the caster that casts the expensive heal is below a certain percentage it hits he caster.
In most cases it is actually critical that the healer gets healed so he/she can continue healing.
