New weapons types?

StormbrookThunderb
I'd like to see some new weapons.
Glaves, Bat'leth, Faeblades, etc or even Warblades. Particularly these for the night blade. I feel like the NB doesn't really have the right arsenal besides daggers and bows.
  • Circle blade.
  • 2 sided glove like the faeblades,
  • 3 sided glave
  • throwing stars
  • Shuriken
  • Warblade
  • Spear (definitely a great weapon)
  • Lances for jousting.

Does anyone have any other ideas?

The Elder Scrolls series is a fantasy series, but they've always tried to keep a more grounded, realistic aesthetic in the games. So pretty much everything you listed except a spear (and maybe a throwing star) isn't going to be added.

Going off of previous elder scrolls games, we -may- see the following:
    -Crossbows
    -Throwing Weapons
    -Polearms/Spears
    -Unarmed Combat

It's not likely we'll see a lot of what you're suggesting. This isnt some whacked out korean MMO - the elder scrolls series tends to be a little more realistic when it comes to weaponry.

Personally, out of the four I listed, the only one that I really think this game should have had from the start is Polearms. Then again, every developer on the planet has apparently forgotten what a polearm or spear is, as you never see them in games anymore. It's almost a conspiracy at this point.

Any blade in any shape is still a blade and deadly. Also If I remember correctly swords were not actually used that often (off and on in the time period in real history.) Anyway I'm just trying to keep suggestions open for brainstorming. Maybe how it would work. I'm tired of talking about buffing or nerving weapons.

You're right, the most common weapons in the history of warfare are polearms, which range from quarterstaffs to spears to javelins to pikes and lances and halberds. They're the least expensive and least difficult weapons to forge for large numbers of soldiers, they're easy to use, and they greatly magnify a combatant's force potential through leverage, reach, and momentum.

Swords were always an officer's weapon. They take a lot of metal, which is never cheap, and they take more training to use efficiently.

Double-sided swords, like you're asking for, have never been a practical weapon on the battlefield, and are just as dangerous to the wielder as they are to the enemy.

Depends on the type of two-handed sword.
Yet in any case to hold the sword by the blade is a bad idea.

In a real fight without armor, with a good backswing, this block would not saved a bearded man.

And stand on the second photos exist in reality, but for me it stupid.

Crossbows, spears, throwing daggers and throwing axes are the only ones I'm interested in. Most of the other weapons from the OP wouldn't fit in an Elder Scrolls game I think.

You mentioned wanting a bat'leth. A bat'leth. A Star Trek weapon in an Elder Scrolls game.

I understand that you like the overblown aesthetic that it represents, but the vast majority of the weapons you listed will never make it in an Elder Scrolls game.

Nah.... We cant get crossbows if they are already in the game as a FG skill. We dont need Shurikens and other ***... Spear is okay because they wanted to implement it to skyrim but then they dont did that.

The bat'leth was only a example I was trying to think of Faeblades a common fantasy weapon. Ex I couldn't remember the proper name for a Faeblade. They would be cool because Nightblades could use them. I could see lots of uses of a Faeblade as a midrange between a sword and daggers. Aesthetically it would look nice in certain races as well. Someone mentioned a Fleuret might me nice or add classes to weapons like sabers.

The other comment was that we have over 13 (and they could add some) additional races to the mix, yet they have similar weapons, which doesn't make a lot of sense if you think about it. In history from area to area it varied on beliefs of the best kinds of weapons. From a cultural perspective I doubt all the races had the same weapons. What if they added race special weapons?

They could add throwing objects in say crafting knives. I could see it as really useful. I mean when you are a blacksmith and you craft items that are worthless. Having stacks of throwing objects might be nice.Thoughts?

    Shuriken Are Throwing Stars

Warblade appears to be a computer game, or do you mean a greatsword?, because they are already in the game.

Spear and glaive are essentially the same weapon (yes I know the difference, but for a game it's minor). Mind you I support spears.

Circle blades look wrong, and don't work that well in the real world either.

War blades are the picture they are anything but great blades. They are swords with oddities. I called war blades faeblades. They're a weapon that's feasible for night blades. It would make sense to have a blade weapon for a blade class.
