I have a problem with this one. I know it is a 1000 years in the past, but Zenimax made absolutely no effort to come even close to the layout of the Dwemer ruin in Skyrim. Both inside and out look completely different. They did this with Ayliad ruins as well. How hard would it have been to keep the general layout the same and just expand the space within each ruin? Does this bother any other die hard ES fans?

I agree. Sometimes you fell like if you were playing a non Elder Scroll game.

Ok, gimme a name of any single place in ESO that has resemblance with its TES game counterpart (with exception of Ash Mountain's look). Just one example will do: any cave, catacomb, city, tavern etc will do :)

Didn't Bethesda do the same with Solstheim in Dragonborn? The general layout of the island was the same, but the dungeons were very different.

It doesn't bother me in the least and I have been playing for years and years. This game is in the Elder Scrolls world but not the successor/predecessor (spiritual or otherwise) of the single player games. There are inconsistencies between ALL the games in one manner or another. This is one of the reasons that Beth has always been very careful about lore and making things "cannon."

You are a character 1000 years before the happening of the other games. You have never seen these places before remember....just suspend your disbelief a bit more. It isn't a big deal and is a cosmetic issue only. It doesn't step on any actual lore, I find all these places recognizable as to what they are. It does not impact the stories being told in any game in any way.

I get it being 1,000 years in the past. But that does not cover Dwemer and Ayliad ruins, both of which were constructed prior to this period. So those ruins should at least somewhat resemble their future counterparts. This goes for caves as well. Geology doesn't change that much in that span of time, yet caves are smaller as well. There is a great deal of this game that looks and feels like the ES. I just don't see why many of the caves and ruins are small...as in short with not much to them. Great game otherwise.
