Crafting: lower-level looks with high-level materials?

I came across a discussion regarding patch notes where @Matuzes listed several changes they'd like to see, and the following caught my eye:
"Crafting: We separate item appearance from crafting material. You can craft "low level" visual item with high level material. This should add even more diversity of player appearance."
In my opinion this would be interesting, as it would greatly add to the diversity of armor/clothing among players and would add another level of choice. For example, I like the look of Imperial Full-Leather armor, but despise those wings on the helmet. With this option, I would keep the previous helmet style without losing armor rating.
What do you think about this option?

✭✭Yes, make the appearance changable.I have always said that it was a good idea, I am currently levelling up a Nightblade in Orcish Iron Armour (atmoran bronze dye btw), and it looks very nice, much better than the Steel Orcish Armour.
Eventually I will have to move onto Steel (it costs too much iron to forge higher and higher level armour, and I can't be hunting down Iron all the time), I will be a touch sad on that day.People believe what they either want to be true or what they are afraid is true!
