DK Solo vs Gargoyle / Storm Atronach world boss - how?

Any tips for ability loadout and strategy for taking on Gargoyle and Storm Atronach world bosses solo?

This is in VR+ zones.

I've managed to take down quite a few of the world bosses solo, some that come in groups are still a bit too tough but the Gargoyle and the Storm Atronach I came across seem impossible solo.

World Bosses are not itended to be soloable.
They are dedicated group content, requiring up to 4 players.
It could be that Vet World bosses are either easier (to account for higher spread of the player base and less ability to outlevel them) or underpowered, as they seem to be more like 2 Player bosses rather then 4 player ones from pre-vet content.

I don't try to solo if I can find at least one other player.
And if I fail soling it once (even because of some random lagspike or other thing) I just accept that I cannot solo them.

If you cannot solo them, they and your class are totally working as intended.

I am not a DK but a Templar. I can solo those buggers, but it's damn hard since you can't CC them and its a dps race. Start out with a damage over time, constantly move and circle, and keep hitting them with your hardest hitters. It's doable, and you being a DK should have it easier than my Templar. Don't forget to use your Ultimate, keep a potion handy and eat something good prefight.

to be fair, those 2 types with the inability to CC are the hardest to solo... Even my Sorc cannot solo a WB Storm antronach when it blasts through any other mob or challenge like they were made for pre-schoolers.

the problem in the fact you cant CC them means the only way is to out number them, or out heal their damage.

In the cast of trash mob versions its usually possible to use healing abilitys to out heal their DPS.

in the case of those World Boss versions, which hit more than 1/4 of your HP in normal hits.. in rapid succession as well (antronachs are horrible in this respect) there is no way to out heal them without losing the ability to attack.

this one WB in the DC zones, who is a massive storm antronach, is one of the few things i found i could not solo.. the best i managed was getting him down to 27% by using my storm antronach to distract him.. he couldnt do enough damage to my storm antronach to kill it outright thanks to the 7k hp that thing has, but i couldnt do enough damage to kill it in the time that my storm antronach has before his timer ends... and i was doing pretty good DPS....
I play every class in every situation. I love them all.

Ok, sounds like it will be pretty tough to pull off. I'll try and find friends :)

Gargoyl world boss isn't too hard (coming from a NB). I am able to solo him pretty easily using a combination of stealth and range. The atronach on the other hand is extremely difficult to solo. It took a whole lot of repairs and arrogance to take that bugger down. I think I tried more than 20 times (probably a bit less than that or I would've gone crazy).
What level are you? I would have 2 different strategies for your DK based on what zone you are in.

I am VR8, the world bosses are in VR7/8 zones.

Been soloing 95% of all world bosses and some of the dolmens dolmens up to vr6... those un CC able ones are interesting for sure, but am getting away with it alot on my tank DK... it is sort of a dance with the devil in the pale moonlight fighting up close with sword and shield.. don't get me wrong though being tank mean I gotta take the hits alot and not supported by a DPS race.. on the other side with my NB which is VR12... it is certainly a DPS race very often and getting hit to much seem fatal.

But again I guess I am just eccentric enough to keep on trying untill success lol.

I just don't know how you would solo WB storm atronachs. they snare you, can't be CC'ed/knocked back. their damage is crazy, and they have a crap ton of Health. best to find friends. im not even sure the FOTM build(s) could do it

Yep. That is the impression I'm getting. I'll come back to this when I hit VR12 and invest in legendary/epic gear, top level consumables and have all the skills I want to try maxed out.

I suspect the key is to have a defensive strategy that you can sustain and then to weave dps in where you can. Abilities like Cinderstorm and damage shields which provide defense and offense are probably very valuable in attempting these fights.

Ok, so the best way to do it is this:

They have 2 attacks that ruin you really quick. The snare (I think it's called storm bolt) and the cyclone attack.
The snare can be dodged, with a little bit of skill. The animation is pretty different so you can tell when he's about to do it.
The next attack after the storm bolt is the cyclone attack (usually-sometimes if you die and respawn it throws the sequence out).
When he does the cyclone, just use bash. He will still do the animation but you won't be affected by it.
I recommend using shield and sword with all the passives. This will give you really good block mitigation. To get even better mitigation you want to wear at least 5 pieces of heavy armour, with all the passives, and the ability absorb magic (or reflect magic, it won't matter).
You want to use coagulating dragons blood when he starts going punch crazy (if you have GDB it's ok, you will be able to dodge more).
For your ultimate, you want to use corrosive armour. You want to try to use it twice. To do that, you need to use it right at the start (just before he hits you) and build it up fast to use it near low life.
Obviously building ultimate against one enemy is a slow process, but there is a way.
There is an ultimate called mountains blessing, which grants you 2 ultimate for each time you use an earthen heart ability. I would recommend using obsidian shield to keep your healing and armour high while building ultimate.

Try this out and let me know how you go. If you still have trouble, I'll go more into specifics of the battle :)

The storm atronach is very hard. I did the pelda tarn world boss - VR8 - with another person twice a couple of weeks ago, but after reading your thread I tried soloing it but didn't have much luck. The closest I got was using sparks (dw ability) which stops his melee from doing any damage for 4 seconds. I was able to get him to 2/3 health through light attacks saving my stamina for sparks and magicka for healing. He got me in the end though with his power attack which I didn't see coming. As someone suggested you can try using obsidian shield. That's a good idea because it absorbs some damage, so his power attack wouldn't do as much.

I will need to respec or get more points to spec into 1H and shield, currently destro and resto staff specced. I think I'll skip them for now and come back when I've got all my 1H+Shield skills I need.
