Need some skill tips

Hi
I know it is many are super good players among us in ESO .. so therefore I take the liberty and ask what is the best setup for me ,,High Elf / Night Blade in terms of skill?
As main weapon I use staff since that is the weapon I like best to use.

I don't play NB but after reading some forums posts I think the best skill as NB is patience.

I play NB but I have never been able to get used to staves, just can't seem to do much damage with them, hey *** that's just my bad I guess.

I play DW and Bow as secondary, my bars have Shadow Cloak/Blood Craze (twin slashes morph)/Whirling Blades/Ambush, and, as I'm vamp, Invigorating Drain. Bow bar has Reapers Mark/venom arrow/snipe/magnum shot and Malefic Wreath. Ults are the vamp Bat Swarm morph and Veil of Blades (easily best NB ult).

It's probably not someone else's perfect build but it suits me and my play style, and I can down most mobs and bosses with a combination of skills, blocking/dodging, and the odd potion. If you don't want to go vamp, then putting siphoning strikes where I have invigorating drain will do a similar job.

I open with shadow, then ambush, blood craze to put a DoT, and will repeatedly use shadow cloak to take some of the heat off and regain the advantage. Bow I will usually open with reapers mark and snipe, and either kite with bow and use venom arrow to interrupt casters, or switch to DW for the kill. I'm sure someone else will tell me I'm doing it all wrong, but I'm open to corrections

I have all the DW and Bow passives, and all med armour with passives. Just my two cents worth anyway, so you know what someone else is doing!

I tried and failed with melee builds for my NB during leveling, and finally settled on a bow/caster and staff/caster build, and it's fun. I can say that the Siphoning skill tree works pretty well for a NB in PvE. Siphoning Strikes restores some magicka and stamina on regular weapon strikes, the Leeching Strikes morph even restores some health, and Strife or either of its morphs is really good for staying alive and doing a fair amount of damage at the same time. The Siphoning ultimate morph Soul Tether charges up pretty quickly with DoT effects, stuns large groups and does decent damage to a single target.

Siphoning Strikes is a toggle that nerfs your attacks a little, but not by a lot. I keep it on most of the time. The Funnel Health morph of Strife is really good for supplemental healing in groups. As a dedicated healer with a restoration staff, my NB is not as good as my Templar, but usually sufficient, and I run out of magicka less easily with the NB. Magicka management is a problem with the Templar class, but my NB often finishes even difficult fights with full health and magicka bars. (Stamina is mostly depleted, but there is a general problem with stamina management in ESO because it is used for so many different things.)

I am a VR10 night blade and hate the thought of a staff night blade build. For me, I think if you want to wield a staff you should be a sorc or Templar (healer). That being said, it's no secret that a NB destro/resto build is the best in the game. Just YouTube nightblade crag lorn solo. The guy is unstoppable. My build is pretty much invincible too, but if you want to use a staff, better off checking the YouTube vid out.

Yeah, that's why I gave up on mine. I would have had to raise him a couple of levels to kill the bosses in the quests. Which without the quests is quite hard.

For NB using staves, pre-Trial running and not including the 10% Crit PvP 3pc:

ST Weapon bar - Resto Staff
Strife > w/e Morph you want
Assasin's Blade > Impale (need the range)
Cripple > Crippling Grasp
Mage Light > Inner Light
*5th ability usually utility like Immovable, Shadow Cloak, Rapid Regen, etc

AOE Weapon Bar - Fire Staff
Impulse > Pulsar
Drain Power > Power Extraction
Fire Rune > Volcanic Rune
Mage Light > Inner Light
*5th ability usually utility like Siphoning Attacks, Refreshing Path, Immovable, etc.

Thief Mundus stone
5pc Twilight's Embrace + 3pc Willow's Path (confirmed for 1.3, only 2% crit loss)
Precise on each Weapon
Spell Damage Glyph on all Jewelry (if you don't run Warlock* set)
Magicka Siphon Glyph on each weapon

* = Until 1.3 because it appears you can overwrite the Warlock Jewelry enchants with the gear set changes.

I've made my NB an ALMOST pure archer.. I'm using a single bow bar right now.

1 Venom Arrow (swap for Arrow Barrage for dungs)
2 Funnel Health (the only magicka ability I'm using)
3 Magnum Shot
4 Snipe
5 Bombard
R Soul Tether

So far so good (lvl 28), it's not ideal since bow skills deal so little damage and take too much time to perform (even animations of instant skills like Venom Arrow block the use of other abilities for about 0.5-1s).

But I'm surviving the cyrondil skyshard hunt so far. Can't take down delve bosses ofc (too much dmg and mobs respawning around too fast), but I survived even when I accidentally pulled 2 packs of 3 VR 5 mobs. And I don't even have stealth on bars (since it instantly breaks if you're using bow).

Though that might just be because that's my treasure character, I don't think anyone else cared to equip his character with full purple armor and yellow bow, using 5p of Hunding's Rage (+11 weapon power with abilities) and 3p of Night Mother's Gaze (-20% armor debuff with criticals)



I just wish Bows got a significant buff... their dps is about as bad as with 2handers.. Snipe buff was kinda good, but isn't enough. Without the sneak bonus, it barely deals more damage than heavy attack, while being significantly more clunky to use. The only good thing about it is that it doesn't pull mob instantly, and so you have time for about 2/3 of the next heavy attack's charge till it hits the target.
Or just make Power Extraction a target-centered AoE instead of player-centered (which is totally useless for bow users).. oh well. NB still needs lots of love.

This is the kind of thread I would like to see more of in these forums: questions about game play, followed by constructive suggestions and discussions. All the discussions and complaints concerning bugs and other problems have filled this forum to the point where it's hard to find any useful information on the actual game in here.

The independent sources of information are also mostly dead, probably because the project leads for all the ambitious web resources and wiki projects are no longer playing the game, or at least waiting for all bugs to be fixed. The information I can find on the Internet about different builds and skills seems to have been written around release and is long since outdated.

Does anyone have any good links to share?

Thanks, I, too, now have something to think about. I have a Bosmer Archer I'd like to develop better and an Altmer I'm mostly using with a staff as my main forager. Both are NB and I like them, I want them to be able to survive.

Here is one of my Favorite Nightblade combos, I play a light armor assassin nightblade in pvp and this is what i use to take out 88% of all people.

Mark Target > Ambush > Shadowy Disguise > crouch > move Behind them> Concealed Weapon == crit 2k+ damage.

Finishers:

• Swallow Soul
• Soul Tether
• Impale
• Shadowy Disguise > Concealed weapon

Ult:

• soul Tether

Bar:

• Swallow soul
• Ambush
• Shadowy Disguise
• Concealed weapon
• Mark Target. (preferably piercing mark)

This is NOT EASY, but is is rewarding if you can do it. You will have to practice this, you have to be positioned correctly behind them to get the 2k+ (my record was 2.6k) and it can be very hard to pull off.

Vampire does give a stealth speed boost also which helps.

Don't you find sneaking difficult when other players are around? I get really frustrated when I'm trying to sneak in and someone blows past and takes out my target. I'm not in Cyrodil yet (not sure I ever will be).

My thoughts on stealth and other players:
When it comes to stealth, I have come to that showing respect is important .. I use to hold me back or sneak along with the person - so I fight when the other player has started the attack
