Nord Racial Passives Specifics

Have another thread going where I'm asking for advice about a DK Tank:

http://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/discussion/122462/dk-tank-race#latest

I'm hoping someone that has maxed a Nord can offer some info on specifics about the racial passives. Lots of tweaks have gone in and the various lists on the sites aren't necessarily accurate. Crazy info hit the net during beta, it got theorycrafted to Timbuktu and back, and now that's what's mostly out there almost 5 months into release....a royal pain finding accurate specifically info on a lot of things.

Specifically, is the armor buff a straight amount added to the armor factor number, a percent added, or a mitigation percent separate from armor factor? Or...?

Also, if you play a Nord tank I would love to hear your thoughts about how this impacts your role and if you are happy or would you have chosen another race if you did it again. Although the other thread may be the more appropriate place.

Thanks!

It's no longer an armor buff.. It's a straight damage reducer for all damage types, spells included.

"Reduce incoming damage by 2/4/6 %"

This means it would not be hindered by spell resists nor armor soft caps. That alone makes Nord the best tank possible for survivability. If you want to output more damage, then a Dunmer would be best.

Awesome, thank you. Exactly what I was wanting to know.

Do you play a Nord tank by any chance? I'm wondering how much impact this has in the grand scheme of things, particularly in high end content.

Obviously, it would have to be tested but I'm really curious as to how this stacks up against the imperial lifetap. I'm guessing the Nord since it's an always on straight mitigation not dependent on chances to fire off of attacks, but I'm told the imperial isn't insignificant over time and I wonder if having the extra stamina to block with might round it out as an an actual advantage for a tank.

All theory on my part, though.

not really.. just an alt but he's not levelled to veteran yet.... Waiting for stamina to be fixed until I play him more regularly/in PvP.

only if it works. Currently it's bugged, you take more damage if you put points into that passive.

Did anyone test this? Is there any data or just a feeling it doesn't work.

Not sure but it seems bugged still. I no longer play my Nord Templar because I seem to take a ton more damage then normal even when I am at soft cap in Armor. Before the patch I was very tanky, after patch I died like a glass cannon. Only thing that changed was the Nord Passive so until next patch with the free Respect ill not play it any.

If/when it works it will make a big difference and is worth picking Nord. Nords only downside is no good stat boost.

Tested only on my own character,

Had 0/3 points, aggroed a mob. Mob was hitting me for 160 continuosly.
I even de-aggro several times to make sure the number did not change and sure enough each hit was 160.
Added one point, new damage was 161...

Added 2 more, final damage was 163.

At that point i just loled.

Please, go ahead and test it for yourselves :)

If this is true, this just takes "wow, these people are lost in the weeds" to a new level, doesn't it?
