New Weapon Type / Skill-line.... Sceptre !

We have numerous threads about new skill lines and builds that we would like to see in ESO. Zenimax even did a blog about a Battlemage build.
However, we don't really have the options to make a true Battlemage / Paladin type build for the simple fact they would/should also use a shield.
With that in mind we would need a new weapon type and skill-line to go with it... the Sceptre ! Allowing the player to remain a true caster and still use one-hand and shield !

Sceptre skill-lines would be similar to that of a healing staff, but less cumbersome than a 2-hand build.

Mace and hammer are offensive weapons, traditionally in MMOs the sceptre is a healing weapon. The sceptres skills would reflect that at the same time as allowing the diversity of the other 1-hand/shield combinations.

Sceptre = fancy mace that symbolizes royalty or divinity.

Once restoration skill line is added with spell crafting that type of build will be possible. Don't know why it was ever tied to a weapon in the first place.

thers a big difference, a Sceptre is a short magic-stick, like a staff but 1H, the first pic in his post is decieving, thats a mace
I agree with the OP, Sceptre would also be a good new weapon, it could fill a gap where now is nothing, sort of tank/support, maybe blocking with magic or such, with defensive fields/buffs
thing is then it would also be possible with dual wield, maybe Sceptre there only offhand, like sword/sceptre, but that would also need a new skill line then, something combining mag/stam maybe
along with spears/Halberd, chakrams/swinging weapons, crossbows,.... theres alot of options still, but I suggest they first fix the balance between current weapons and stam/mag

Eso is more "Real Fantasy" and not that High Fantasy Crap you might think like Diablo etc. there is no such think like fancy Magic Maces here. And they will never be here

    Edit
And to be correct that Sceptre thing comes more from the Asians. In there Fantasy believings that Clerics etc. use this Holy Weapon..... Thats why you will find that kind of weapon in every game with asian influence.

    D-staff and R staff
ofc they could add sceptres, it all depends on how they work out the skills and such

Wouldn't a Battlemage use a 1hd sword? you know sort of like Gandalf does?
The only past incarnations I've seen of battlemages were basically mages in Platemail with a sword.
I may be biased thou as I want the Crossbow added first ;)

Not really... Scepters were wielded by the Egyptian Pharaohs and by royalty in Medieval Europe so it's easy to see how they made their way into MMOs.

In an older Western MMO I play, it's the standard weapon for all the healer classes.

guys guys guys.. have we seen a sceptre in elder scrolls before ? no. So it won't be added. Period. Stop making wish for things that are completely not linked to the game.

Restoration is a perfectly valid school of magic, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise! - Spells and incantations for those with the talent to cast them!

If Sceptre, than only as new one-handed weapon type as daggers, axes or swords, only differing in the passives.
Like daggers give more crit, sceptres could give 1% lifesteal or so.

Would be a little gimmick, but no big change.

And yes, TES had something like Sceptres in the past. Some one-handed stuffs were sceptres. Unique items with funny effects ;)

I see the word "sceptre", I see this:

That sounds .. interesting. Wabbajack ought to be considered a "sceptre" perhaps. I used to love finding Wands of Wonder (and other mystery effect items), especially when the GM made up his own secret table of effects, in tabletop.

I'd really like to see a function with staffs, where you can hit people with them instead of just be ranged or take ages to cast the attacks tbh.

I've seen the function where switching my Staff/Steel&Board makes the Staff hit the target, because it's acting like the sword, and it looks awesome in my opinion.

I'd be happier with 'wands'. It would allow all the Harry Potter fans a bit of a thrill as well, I suppose.

Normally people would go "Scepters are just maces", but I do really like the idea of a 1handed weapon that can be used for healing (with a shield), so because of that alone I support the sceptor addition.

I'd support this almost as much as adding polearms to the game. Polearms still take priority, of course, but scepters and crossbows are a close second now.
