You people need to stop beating a dead horse, like yesterday. They didn't back themselves into a corner, a few temper tantrums on the forums do not equate to being backed into a corner. You people continue to act like this is the first time an mmo has done this or steam for that matter when it's not the case.

ZoS can not ever offer any incentives or perks to get more people to join without also feeling they have to give them to existing customers now.
Solution: (and I am sure this will only appeal to the more sensible of the rabid fan-base) would be a loyalty program. A lot of MMOs have it i.e. once you have subscribed for X amount of time you get a free pet, mount, trinket, dye etc. FFXIV was actually very generous with theirs, giving stuff once a month. I would rather have something a little less regular, perhaps once every 3 months - but have the gift be more meaningful (pets and mounts for example).
Discuss!
people pay good money for this game and people expect the product they where told they would get and it has not been the case.As for the steam thing well yes people where pissed since most of us wanted the dam game through steam but zos said screw the 500 people that already own the game just to get all steam people bashing the game. *** off loyal people for people who bash the game great idea.
Not sure where you been but its one of the many things they do to screw over there customers more and more people quit every day so yeah they are doing stuff wrong

Did I miss a news bulletin somewhere? I thought the dog was still just a Steam exclusive.

They are going to be making available a brown version of the wolfhound due to the complaining. There are no other details as to when, or how.

grow up!
You give loyalty for loyalties sake, not because you act like some cheap person that needs to have some give you something to keep you loyal. again grow up

If there is one thing the thread about the dog proved , is that they dont.
Only small thing i get from all this , is that now it takes me less than 5 minutes to convice someone im talking about the game to give up buying.
