Please don't skip maintenance again

Been noticing delay on loading times for the game, but not just screens. Walk into a bank and NPCs take ages to fade in, same with crafting stations in towns. Today, even mail attachments are taking their time fading in.

Just entered combat, and for seconds stood there unable to do anything, by the time the server has caught up, the mob has already killed me :/, please don't skip maintenance again, ever - clearly for some reason the servers need their weekly reboot.

I noticed a huge delay with npc loading today too. Sent in a bug report. Actually took like a full minute for an npc to load up in front of me (I have a good computer and decent internet).

Same here. And I thought it was my problem.
People keep telling me they're gonna buy me an ale. They never do.

There are only two things I can't stand in this world. People who are intolerant of other people's culture. And the Elves.

Load times across the board have increased for me also over the past few weeks.

Um, didn't you recognize that big red box at the top of the forum, that states there will be a maintenance?

There have been other noticeable things like VERY slow chat, up to 20 sec delay from hitting enter until the message appeared or weapon swaps being impossible in Cyrodiil when a lot of players were on screen.

    Um, yes?

I wasn't referring to this week. I was referring to any time in the future, whenever maintenance gets skipped, all kinds of laggy/phasey type shenanigans ensue.

Ah, ok. Thought, you were just talking about this week.

Well, at least now they know.

Being all cocky and skipping (not one, but two in a row) maintenance cycles doesnt sit well with the state the game is in.
That *** you can pull off if it's a F2P game. But with a subscription I expect the same level of service and readiness each week - I dont care if they are out to some convention, on holiday or whatever. Hire more staff if needed.

    Lesson learned. Or not.
Because I am sure sooner or later they'll try that same *** again...

I suspect they were skipped due to quakecon

I agree with Ojustaboo. They most likely skipped the entire week to prepare for Qauekcon, which was for that moment a lot more important to get right than doing 4 maintenance each 2-3h that week.

I think they did it right, they performed very well during Quakecon, hope they can now deliver also.

Because everyone knows to always take the server engineers to use as guest speakers in big media events.

Or maybe just maybe they wanted their top engineers to make sure all the game demos such as the pvp matches etc went without a hitch.

Hence decided to postpone maintenance just in case any unforseen problems occured when their top guys are at quakecon.

I doubt very much they would take their top guy server engineers away from the game servers at any time. That would be asking for trouble.

It was skipped because of Quackecon.

One does not simply take service offline for maintenance without senior specialist supervision.

Things go wrong out of nowhere and for no apparent reason. Thats when you call in seniors / leader / what ever title they use for lead people to assist with issue that arose.

    It was a calculated risk.

Common sense says why they postponed it, people really shouldn't have to spell out every little detail.

A lot of the team was at quakecon, not every single one of them, so they decided its better to postpone.

Can you imagine how it would have looked if their demos or pvp matches had fallen over, of course they want some of their best guys there.

Is it really that hard to comprehend, do you realky need to pull that to pieces???

It's not like they needed the lead dev to be standing by when they do a regular server maintenance, so yes I don't see how the demo thing they did needed to be responsible for stopping this. And there was no way they brought their top server engineer with them, some tech help sure, the top server engineer nope.
