Problems being a NORD on Aldmeri Dominion?

A friend of mine just purchased the Imperial Edition digital DL of the game, and he sent me a video that shows how when he tries to be a NORD on AD, it automatically changes his faction to EP. Can anyone explain to me WHY he cannot be a NORD on AD? That doesn't seem to make any sense to me, because I have a NORD on AD. But the video he sent me CLEARLY shows it changing his faction when he chose Nord. Any assistance would be VERY helpful. Thanks!!

    because playing any race in any faction is only possible if you pre-ordered.

    You can only have characters from a race not native to an alliance if you have preordered the game or if you have the imperial edition (not sure about the imperial edition though since I don't have it).

    It was not advertised that way and it has been like that since launch. If it was going to hurt them it probably would have by now.

    Also buying the imp ed does not give you any race in any faction. It's for any preorder.

    He has Imperial Edition. This REALLY strikes me as ODD, and VERY counterproductive to FRIENDS that want to team up, but not be FORCED to be a certain race. HOW DUMB!

    The game was never advertised as any-race/any-faction except when it was in the pre-order state. The Explorer's Pack was the only way that anyone could be granted that bonus, and they were very clear about that when offering pre-orders.

    Nope it is a preorder bonus , the code itself is something you can buy on the net even now , just not from zen or steam.

    The Imperial Edition allows you to play an Imperial in any alliance..........

    The Explorers Pack which was pre-order only allowed you to play Any Race in Any Alliance......

    So your friend must have mis-read or mis-understood what he was buying :)

    Yeap , i dont even have a nord lols , but i heard of this change to the race passives.

    Direct dmg reduc is awesome.

    I believe your friend was misinformed.
    The perk to play as any race under any alliance was a pre-order bonus only. The Imperial Edition is what allows you to play as an Imperial under any alliance.

    Why you don't simply buy Explorer Pack? It's pretty cheap and if you really want to play nord in AD... just but it.

    Yes, take a look around the internet, the explorer's pack code is out there! And not very expensive either.
