Journal Rewrite

Is there an addon out there anyone is working on, or other's like me asking, about a Journal AddOn that will work in tandem with those of us that enjoy an immerse play-style?

I found some AddOns that remove the compass and the quest tracker (they work awful but that's a whole other topic) so I can play by story-line/narrative only but the quests aren't very well written and the journal entries are, somehow, even worse and less descriptive.

So, has anyone remade all the quest entries for the Journal that are more descriptive?

hmmm a friend had something like this. I think it's out there, I just don't know the add on.

It's almost as if the developers were split between immersive game play (almost no gui, which is great!) and streamlined to level as fast as possible (the compass just pulling you along like you're a dog on a lash).

Anyways, guess I'll try a little longer without the quest tracker but it's actually impossible on most quests and the quests I did complete were simply out of sheer luck or I followed a herd of other players to a destination.

Again, the journal entries need a massive overhaul or a full rewrite. The give you nothing to go on. Don't think I even seen one entry yet that had a cardinal direction or [someone|something] can be found by/near [this place|person].

wykkyd's full immersion might help some.

Honestly, having a quest tracker is really a must. I've seen people try to play the game without it and without checking the map. I had to do that for them when they found themselves missing pieces of cadwell's silver.

    yes there is, esoui.com/downloads/info580-HarvensQuestJournal.html

its really nice, u have a list of quest and then you can select a quest and have all information on a book stile journal, only thing, cannot access map directly (at least last time i've used)

there is even a true exploration add on that remove the map ( make it blank) and u have to walk around to know what is there.

Wow good stuff and will look into this Sunday. Very much appreciated. As for the map, itself, I unbound it and never used any mapping system in any mmo... even when EQ tried to force one on me I was still all stubborn about it. =)

    Thank you too Smee!

im impressed with people that can and actually wanna play like this, I have no sense of direction what so ever. For me compass, map and quest tracker is a must.

Great seeing you are getting what you might need for further dark explorations :)

WOW amazing mods! didn't knew about them before, now i can really explore tamriel and the journal as a real journal is soooo much better than that crazy skyrim-type gps agenda, it really brings ,more of that old morrowind/oblivion feeling to the game :)

So I can almost accomplish what I want to do but it requires a few AddOns and some don't work properly all the time, some clash with others, and the ZOS code has problems in the first place, it seems. No clue, I may just be trying to run too many clashing AddOns.

Exactly what I'm looking for is:
    - Keep compass but be able to resize, move it, and apply alpha to it so it fades (mouse-hover shows it again)
    - Remove all active Quest Markers from compass. Edit: by active markers I mean everything; the white currently focused markers as well as the black unfocused markers (present in the journal).
    - Remove the Quest Tracker on the right side of the screen completely. I have no need of this and I just open the Quest Journal when needed.
    - Keep, this one is important, Quest Giver Markers *only* over the head of the NPC's. No idea why but something is removing them. I think it's the AddOn 'PinKiller' but I'm not sure yet but, if so, I was really expecting this mod to only remove active quest pins/markers.
    - Obligatory entry: don't care about anything on the main map (M) because I already have it unbound and do not use at all.

There's a setting in the default client that allows me to remove the Quest Tracker on the right upper portion of the screen but it's not stable; it'll just auto-magically show back up (when I go back into the settings it shows [OFF]). ~shrugs~ Edit: had to do major surgery on this sentence being I had no clue what it originally meant. lol

Anyways, I been looking at everything offered on esoui and curse and a few other places, plus here, and really not finding what I need but in piece-meal so it looks like I may just be getting back into coding after all. Too many Mods either clash or are outdated or just don't work the way I expect (be it author of AddOn or code changes issued by ZOS or I had too many beers).

    PIN KILLER:
    (with tweaks you need)

Remove all quest pins from the world, map and compass - read description to enable compass option

    http://www.esoui.com/downloads/info190-PinKiller.html

Optional Tweaks I find more immersive: Open PinKiller.lua file located at C:\Users\YOURNAME\Documents\Elder Scrolls Online\live\Addons\PinKiller

And under "local remove = {"

Place "--" (without quotes) in front of the line that says "MAP_PIN_TYPE_QUEST_OFFER,".
This will still show Quest Giver markers on the compass to allow you to find the start of new quests easier. The marker will still be gone from the world, but it being on the compass has the same effect.

Also under "local remove = {"

    Add MAP_PIN_TYPE_POI_SEEN,
This will remove undiscovered icons from your compass, only allowing discovered/completed locations from being shown on your compass.

    Optionally you could add MAP_PIN_TYPE_POI_COMPLETE,
and this will hide even the discovered/complete icons from your compass simply giving you a compass only effect.

    You really need to try:

    True Exploration

    http://www.esoui.com/downloads/info500-TrueExploration.html

I know you said you don't use the map, but maybe this will be a nice compromise for you! This makes the map completely blank and only reveals the map as you explore. It's really awesome.

    No Written Dialog

    http://www.esoui.com/downloads/info91-Ak0sNoWrittenDialogue.html

I wasn't sure I was going to like this one, but it really engrosses you into the game a lot!

    Wykkyd's Full Immersion

    http://www.esoui.com/downloads/info48-WykkydsFullImmersion.html

Hide the quest tracker as you requested and some other reticle tweaks you may find enjoyable.

    Harven's Quest Journal

    http://www.esoui.com/downloads/info580-HarvensQuestJournal.html

I know it was mentioned, but WOW!
