????DW Sorcerer Tank????

I heard from another player that they ran with a DW Sorc Tank and since I am working on a Sorc Tank myself I was wondering if there was any possible was to make this work.

I'm a dual-wield sorcerer DPS, and it works wonderfully for me. I imagine that by evening out the points spent in magicka and health, you could get a more tanky build, but I honestly can't see being a tank unless you use the one hand and shield skill line, since it has a taunt, which you'll need if you can't keep up with the DPS of the others in your group.

inner fire taunts and thats undaunted, i'm pretty tanky as a DW sorc but i haven't focused into it, if i tried i probably could go tank with a risky side to it

Oh yeah, I kinda forgot the Undaunted skill line existed. Just goes to show how much I use it.

This isn't about obtaining a cookie cutter build it is about picking the brains of other players so I may make a better informed decision.

It makes sense. With dual wield (using daggers) and medium armor, you can get an extremely high weapon critical chance. Combine that with critical surge from the stormcalling line, and you can spam quick melee attacks that heal you every time you crit. You can use conjured ward and bound armor from the daedric summoning line to boost your resilience,and encase as an alternative to the dragonknight's talons for an aoe root/snare. Lightning form also boosts aoe damage and mitigation, and you can use bolt escape as a gap closer/charge.

From the dual wield line, ember explosion is an aoe damage and hit chance debuff, and you have whirlwind as an aoe execute.

It's a very viable build on paper, I've never tried or seen it used in practice though. I think the biggest issue here is going to be damage mitigation - the real reason 1h/shield is used for tanking isnt because of the taunt, it's because of the massive bonuses to block cost reduction and blocking mitigation that the tree gives, allowing you to survive a torrent of attacks with relative ease. Without that, you're going to have a hard time dealing with tough packs or bosses.

It's one of those builds I'd like to try but just dont have the time to level a character for.

Only way is defending on both weps+ use lots of tanky spells, Undaunted taunt is a must. W/o that you're a tank that can't hold aggro.... so just dps lol

Asking for help with a build is not bad.. No where is it indicated that he wises to obtain the most OP mage/tank build.. Simply a working tank build. Go elsewhere with those comments.

I have fought some nice Sword and Board mages.. They appear to be a fun build since quite a few were really hard to kill. I don't have any suggestions other then 49 attrib in HP and run with a Sword and Board load out.

Have not really used it... But I'm wondering about sparks.

Sparks wont work on bosses, but the ember explosion morph is great for AoE packs. I've used it as a nightblade tank - even better when used in conjunction with evasion and blur.
