The catch up system

I am not a big fan of this idea....This whole rewards if you DON'T play thing really seems like a bad idea (i know they never released a bad idea yet...lol). The "we want people to play with their friends and have easier ways to close the gap"...just seems so wrong and counter productive.
So I decide to not play for a few weeks....I log on and get this insane bonus boost to exp....I go kill a few mudcrabs and poof...I jump 2 levels? This might be an exaggeration. ...but from what I heard this seems like a bad idea. It's not fair to the people that log on everyday. But rewards you when you dont?
I could be missing something but that's how I heard it...anyone else feel the same? Or different?
I mean when a game is fun....I play to stay with my friends...we play together...then again in consoles it is much easier to find new friends and keep up with old. But I never have seen a "time away" perk or bonus before....I have seen items given or events to attract you back....but not a "rested bonus"

If its anything like in other games, it will be gain a 50% exp boost for about 10% of a level, per 12hrs ish that you didnt play, capped at 2 levels.

Been in plenty of games, it made very little difference and if it lets a mate catch up and do stuff with you, whats the problem (unless your main pleasure in a game, is saying haha im higher level than you, to mates, rather than play with them)

This is not a new MMO mechanic. It's pretty common. The alternative is people quit and the game fails.

It's one of the few things in this game that will help people who want to play more than one character. This game is already too anti-alt as it is.

    M'asad - Khajiit Nightblade - Healer
Pakhet - Khajiit Dragonknight - Tank
Raksha - Khajiit Sorcerer - Stamina DPS
Bastet - Khajiit Templar - Healer
Leonin - Khajiit Warden - Tank

Due my RL I have sometimes weeks of no play, yet I never quit a game because of it.

So please don't spread false facts.

In my opinion forced XP is always bad. If someone wants to boost ok, let him buy it in the shop or let him hit a switch in the game menu. Everyone else, should play how he or she wants to.

In the end every xp boost only serves the nerds who play on 8 chars and then just swap them base don which gives the most rewards. WOW is a good example how such a system can be abused and fail.

I'm pretty sure it would be account wide. It will be based on how long you haven't logged into your account, not a specific character.

The XP boost is called a resting bonus in other MMOs. The point is so that you don't lag too far behind your friends if you can't play as much as they do.

I'm sorry. I didn't know YOU wouldn't quit over being left behind. If I had known that, I would have completely rethought my argument. </sarcasm>

Ok if it's in other games and is not too over powered...I'm just looking at zos and their inherent ability to screw up stuff....lol

...this isn't some new concept and it's not "insane" experience gains. The original elder scrolls had rested and well rested bonuses. Rested for sleeping in an unowned bed and well rested for sleeping in your own bed. Why is this such an alien concept to people when it's been present in mmorpgs for ages?

I'm all for the catch up system and I'm pretty sure those of us with full time jobs, families, and other obligations to attend too would agree that the system will keep them playing for longer. I like knowing that I can go do what I have to and comeback and be able to catch up on leveling as if I was leveling the whole day.

While casuals and hardcore players never get along, the more casuals players don't have a choice but to be casuals because...you know...that thing called life. The catch up system allows them a little room to breathe ingame...

I'm not happy about this. I actually play the game and get no boost, but someone else doesn't participate and gets an edge. This makes no sense. Why don't I also get the boost? I am actually an active player and am doing things in the game.

I would be worried about out-leveling quests when I had to take time off for vacation, or due to a heavy schedule at work, etc. I would prefer to have the ability to turn this function on or off accordingly.

in age of conan, the resting bonus is 1 lvl pr 4th day to select if you wanna use it, no actually force leveling.

so if they do it like this everybody gets a boost, those with already highest rank, can use them for alts
