Do You Use An Armor Set; Or Not; Or Sometimes?

Do you take serious strategic interest in armor sets or only focus on effects of each piece? I only self-find armor so finding a complete set doesn't make much sense. What do they mean to you?

Because gear in this game is less complicated than in other MMO's (here you only have to worry about the armor rating, your choice of enchant, and trait, rather than various stats like strength/intelligence/agility/etc.), I find that armor set bonuses are even more important. Those set bonuses are basically like the stats you'd get from gear in other games.

As a crafter, I've put a ton of time into trait research so that I can always mix the sets for the most optimal bonuses to my characters.

With the limited bag space issues, I can never keep the parts of a set around long enough to wear it as a set. I finally have enough Traits researched to use some of the 3 and 4 trait crafting stations, so tonight I will reward my level 34 Sorcerer with some new gear.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

I craft full sets for both myself and my girlfriend.

All my characters have crafted armor sets, they are a huge advantage, especially at low levels imo

I use crafted ones. Two at a time - one with a five piece effect, and one with a three piece effect. Although they are mainly low level effects at the moment - as I Haven't many traits on some items! :-).

Do you ever end up with one ultimate armor set for PvE and PvP or is there always something better needed for a particular battle situation that requires building up a different second set?

Do you or others build armor sets up for other players and if so how much gold would a really great set be worth? Of course do include Medium Armor, and for weapons DW and a Bow. Considering the little effort I am willing to put into myself and the considerable time and effort you would put into it only to sell it off to a perfect stranger for gold might not make any sense to you? What can you turn around and do then with a ton of gold?

Almost always, yes. Moreso when they release update 3 with two, and four piece set bonuses.

That would be more reasonable... Like a two piece DW dagger set that would be easy enough to self-find. Or a bow set including medium feet and hands armor. But if I have to craft it or wait for an eternity forget it. For the record I have gotten maybe two or three on occasion to match up but as soon as something with more 'armor' comes along then out it goes.

I had two ideal sets (3 piece Willow's Path and 5 piece Twilight's Embrace).
Both are getting changed in 1.3, so I will need to make new sets.
I've never felt a particular battle situation required a second set.

For my guildmates I craft for free as long as they supply materials.
My crafting professions were super easy for me to master, and I did them for free while leveling simply by deconstructing drops.

I was thinking more about crafted sets and not about drops. When a piece of a set drops, I spam general chat a few times to see if anyone wants it, check the guilds, and if no takers, deconn for the mats. Especially green items as I can almost always get an improvement item from them now.

Crafting is one of the most fun things to do in this game IMO. I always craft full sets of matching gear for myself and my alts. I don't like it when my armor doesn't match, and the set bonuses really give you flexibility.

My only complaint is how hard it is to get a full set of dropped gear like Juggernaut... and that you can only get the dropped sets in one racial armor style.

With that gold you can buy motifs, crafting improvement reagents as well as material, bank upgrades to hold more stuff (near the end it gets to about 85k) pack upgrades, horses, sets that can't be crafted, and of course, the utter joy of hoarding your wealth and sitting on a nice big stack of it, until something you do want shows up.

I haven't looked into it, but assuming you don't have millions of AP, you could circumvent that for the pvp armor via gold, but it would take quite a lot.

I personally have 2 sets, a 5 medium 2 light for dw/bow, and a 7 light for staffs. Sets are changing soon, then it will be necessary to remake the armor. Some of my armor is gold so this will hurt.

You should really look into some of the crafted sets, even low trait sets like death's wind are better than nothing.

Only the ones I can craft though, never the ones I can loot.

To this day, I still don't get the point of gathering loot set pieces when the ones I can find are usually all different levels and invariably several levels below mine once I've managed to gather the minimum 3 pieces.
