I log into ESO last night and see "Steam now offering ESO" I thought "Oh cool more people will be playing. Sweetness! More people more fun!"

I played went to bed... I woke up this morning to check the forums and holy good lord of all that is furry and doglike anywhere in the world! Why are people so upset and hurt about the dog?

Does it seriously matter? I mean I Beta tested, pre-ordered, and got the Imperial edition. So I got meh Monkey, meh mud crab, and meh scuttler. None of them hardly ever even leave my bank.... Why is everyone so upset?

ZOS didn't take anything from you, they didn't give the Steam purchasers anything super special. They don't even get the option for the Explorer pack I believe. Either way being they do or don't. Who really cares? It's just a digital dog... I don't think it will be game breaking to not get it.

I am pretty sure you can still PvE/PvP/adventure/craft/kill stuff/ride a horse/be the hero/make friends/be in a guild. Nothing is different because of the dogs.. Just chill lol

Good day sir.. I SAID GOOD DAY!

Once again I say, actions speaks louder than words and that it's how a company treats its consumer base that riles people up, not necessarily the fact that it's a dog.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, however.

The fact is , we , the current players , are being locked outside content meant only for new players.

This time it is a dog , next time might not be.

    You are perfectly right,

There's a thing those angry poeples wanting a dog do not realize ..

If they bough the imperial edition, they would receive a list of items/advantages, etc ..all these where clearly stated. Zenimax wrote a contract, and those player signed, knowing full well what they where signing for.

Zenimax has EVERY rights to write has many different contracts as they want for players to sign. Nothing more is to be said .. you signed a contract, lucky you, you got exactly what you wanted. that dog just isn't part of it.

    It's as simple as that.

Now, go to your bank, and ask for the same loan conditions as your neighbor, cause they're better than yours, and you'll see what they'll say .

The people raging are just people who go out of their way to find something to rage about, because that's all they know how to live online.

Myself personally, I say "Nice to see you Steam users! Hey, that's a mighty fine looking dog you've got there!" without kind of jealousy behind it.

Every MMO offers exclusives to different players based upon when or where they purchased the product or subscription from.

What really gets me though, are the "The faithful are being ignored/betrayed!" comments. The game has been out a whole whopping 3 months. "Customer appreciation" rewards typically don't start to appear in MMOs for at least 6-12 months after release.

There's a pretty simple answer to this, methinks. Just because something is true, doesn't make it entirely good or appreciated. I can be denied a life saving surgery because I don't have insurance and while it was previously a valid thing, it doesn't make the patient any less saddened by the fact.

People, (group 'A', for simplicity) with no opinion, or minimum investment in an idea, concept or condition frequently tend to be surprised that other people,(group 'B', for simplicity) do have an opinion that is much more strongly felt, and frequently chalk it up to the opinion holder needing to get a life.

Now, I'm not saying you are in group 'A', as I don't know you, but please keep in mind that these group 'A' people who have no opinion also have no clue what kind of issues the group 'B' people have to deal with in their normal/regular/professional or slacker lives.

And they, (group 'A' people) equally tend to ignore that some people, (anyone else), come to games to forget things in their lives that are unpleasant, mundane, or just annoying as ducksnot and want the game to be an alternate space where they CAN have some time doing things the way they really want them to be.

Voicing an opinion about preferred alternate realities in a game involving alternate realities that one pays a fee to temporarily escape into would seem to be a reasonable outlet for people who would like their opinions known, yes?

Its all about entitlement of the younger gamers these days. The whine about VR, the whine about balance, the whine about console, the whine about not a hundred raids, about loot in dungeons or xp ... its all coming from the same type of player that now also whines about a vanity pet.

These young folks just cant accept that they don't have everything, so even if there would be a an animated fly in the Steam launcher they would cry and demand one at the ESO launcher too.

To me this is all very sad, especially since there are real problems in this world...

The same whine we will get on the console release or if they add pets and mounts as rewards in the game.

I will agree with the fact that video games are an escape from reality. I my self use ESO for that. I just can't personally see what the big fuss is. I mean not having the pet won't take away my ability to play the game. I just didn't see what the big fuss is all about.

I mean at the end of the day if you honestly want it that bad buy it thru steam. I know I am bound to get the "I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO BUY IT AGAIN!!!" answer and I am ok with that.

But other side of that coin, you already bought it knowing you were not getting
the dog. I just don't see why people are so hurt.

That's all, I am totally for people expressing their opinions. Just the rage and the anger about it is what confuses me. Like ZOS owes these people anything... Last I checked we went to ZOS for a game, yes they came to us with a product.

The street goes both ways, but why get mad at the hand that helps. I know that there are not people at ZOS sitting at a desk thinking "How can we totally bone the people who are "loyal" *mind you for a game that has not even been out 6 months*, and praise the new customers... DOGS!!!! DOGS WILL *** THEM ALL OFF!!!! MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

I don't think they did it to separate players. I don't think it will come down to a guild sayin "You steam, or Zenimax Launcher?". I just can't wrap my head around the fuss.

Honest I don't care if they took all of my pets when I logged in next. I don't use them. Once and a while my monkey will come for PvP... But that is just because it pisses some people off to have one dude with a monkey totally trollin his own group.

Hey, everyone. We’ve received many questions about how non-Steam customers can get the in-game ESO Whiterun Wolfhound pet that is currently an exclusive part of the Steam offer. While the grey wolfhound will remain an exclusive through Steam, we will be offering a brown version of the Wolfhound pet (tentatively called the Riften Woflhound) at some point in the future. Stay tuned for more details on how you'll be able to get your hands on one.

For all the QQ'ers why say its not they get it, but that can't. There you go soon enough you'll get a dog too. Can we put this to bed now, PLEASE.

So...no. You can't buy them online.
I am not spending a single penny on the game until changes are made to the game that I want to see.
    1) Remove having to be in a guild to sell items to other players at a kiosk.
    2) Cosmetic modding for armor and clothing.
    3) Difficulty slider.
    4) Fully customizable player housing that isn't tied to anything in the game other than having the correct resources and enough gold to build. Don't tie it to PvP, guild membership, or anything at all. Oh, make it instanced so as not to take up world map space, too. Zeni screwed this one up already.
Any /one/ of these things implemented would get me spending again, maybe even subbing.

This latest phenomenon is the most pathetic "problem" ever. This is probably the first time I have ever contemplated leaving ESO. Not because I want a VANITY pet, but because I am part of a community of gamers playing a game rated M, that are acting like a bunch of toddlers. If I were a dev, I would embrace these new customers coming in and perm ban all these children. Sometimes a customer is more costly than profitable. What a joke. Really people?
