NPC/Enemy (selective) reset

You know the one.

You've come across a boss, or a mob, or some end-of-quest thingy you are heroically obligated to dispatch to save the town/save the person/save your life...

You've fought hard. You've been brave. Maybe you've leveled up and come back after dying a time or two, even.

Heck, maybe this time, you brought friends...

This time, you're gonna make it! Enemy health bar is almost there.

You're gonna take this guy down... One last hit...

And...he runs back into position and resets, like you, and 20 of your closest buddies were never even there.

Glitch right? You backed up to far...something...

So, you try it again...and it happens again...and again...and again...

So I gotta ask: Do enemies set an egg timer when you punch them in the face?

"I'll fight you to the death! (For up to three minutes...) and no one shall"

"Hold on a second...gotta take this call."

"Hello, Mannimarco? Yeah, I was just fighting a bunch of soulless one's."

"No, it's ok, I'm not fighting anymore...I just ran back into position and reset."

"Oh, gotta go. Someone just punched me in the face! (These guys look just like that last bunch!?)"

Furthermore, I didn't instantly get all my health back? My armor still took dings, I'm pretty sure. And those skills/spells, you know, the ones you can't use on someone twice? Yeah, those don't work anymore (because that part didn't reset.)

Same with the critters that will chase you for half a mile, beat on you for a minute, and then go running back to home base as if their Mom was calling them for dinner? (I'm usually effectively irritated enough at the interruption to whatever I was doing at this point that I will chase them the half a mile back home just to give them a stern talking to...)

Anybody else wish the Devs would increase the attention span of the enemies that do this, or at least make a reset a full reset, not a selective one?

If you're gonna fight me, fight me. Don't call time-out. Don't yell "Base! I'm on base!"

As a minimum, if you're absolutely insistent on a do-over, we should both get one. And if you're gonna run the other direction, I should be able to plant (damage causing) fireballs squarely in the middle of your back while I pursue. Azura knows that's how it happens to us!

I use this to my advantage sometimes, and it takes a cliff or ledge or some other obstacle to do make it work best. But I can spam a skill at an enemy for just about forever to build up the skill as their health resets each time they can't engage me.

However, I have had one boss fight where is seemed the enemy was constantly resetting their health. I came back with a friend and prevailed. However it was almost too easy that time. Then I came back on another character that was 4 levels lower and the same boss died without even incurring a hit on my character.

I have also stepped out of the combat zone more than once with some bosses only to see their health reset, and this after I used up my Ultimate. Grrr.

    @Nestor, sounds good in theory.

I have good new and bad news though.

Skills don't go up directly with use. They go up with XP's, which, in this case, go up with enemy death. (Otherwise, all the people spamming at the bank would have 50's across the board...) This is different than the standalone's were.

As an odd side effect, skills will still go up with not-use. It simply needs to reside in your active skill bar when XP's are earned.

It's hard to see on the individual skills, but if you hover over the overall skill line progress and your character level progress, unfortunately you'll see that they don't budge unless something dies, you complete a quest, or find a place.

No enemy death, no XP's, no skill increase. Sorry, but hopefully this will save you some time.

The boss thing is the most annoying, moreso when the boss has minions... You just seem to find your rhythm and start to chip away and you have to start over...the boss does not.

I kind of thought that, but I was thinking that if I was damaging them, then dropped down for the kill, it would give me more Exp for the kill. It seemed that way anyway. I am still trying to get some numbers on bars to see the exact amounts things are increasing, so that might help. I have a thread about my trials and tribulations with that in the Add On's section.

Unfortunately, again, it won't give you 1000 hits or hitpoint damage credit.

Don't sweat it though. You'll have plenty of time to max your skills, skill lines, and start swapping out skills to max alternates well before you hit L50.
