    Not bad.

Here's a chart of similar MMOs sub numbers.

For a AAA game, that is bad. really bad.
Take into account a lot of those will be the 3 month subs peeps bought and have already bailed on the game.
The suit's will already be putting together their get out plans which usually consists of a large quick cash grab.
Anything below 1m for AAA game is a VERY bad thing for the gamers also as it means no Investment will be coming from the bean pushers.

UO still has 300k subs.....it's 17 years old now and run from basically a large house. A 3 month old game with 750k? *holds head in shame*

Actually its not that bad. FF14 released on PC PS3 and PS4 and has around 400-500k subs and considered a huge success.

400-500k subs, but THEY say thay have "Over 2 Million Players". Where does the 400-500k subs come from?

2 million registered. Technically I'm still registered even though I haven't paid in months. I'll look for the interview they did not too long ago. They didn't come out with hard numbers but hinted with it being around 500k.

Next interesting thing will be the console launch. Will it force a numbers release or will we still be in the dark how many of us are in the game.
EU server, and loosing interest in the game.

So if it's 775k then perhaps they should focus on the consoles. That potentially adds another 500k thinking of console and new Steam customers combined.

As someone said. Considering the negativity around this game over the last 60 days. Not bad at all

Nowadays 775k isn't that bad. I'd say multiple factors could have made them lower:

People are easily disappointed and move on. Higher standards and such.
There are plenty of others out there to play.
More people rather not pay monthly fees, or even pay for the game itself, and go for F2P games.

I'm really surprised it is listed to have 775k, especially with all the bugs and such.

We're in july now tho, so its probably about 200k less than that, give or take :P

That amount of subscribers if accurate means that ESO is the second highest subscribed game in the west. With WoW being still higher and EVE just under (although you can halve EVEs numbers as almost everyone has more than one account)

I would be skeptical, but now that the OP posted those numbers, they're in TWO places on the internetz!

They have to be true now!

775K - if true - isnt so bad. But keep in mind the subscription choices available... People that picked 3 months (which I would guess is very common for the "want to try and see but not spend the cash for 6+" type) should still have time left. I have cancelled already and barely play the game anymore, but still probably count as a current subscriber for another 20 days.

Still, if it has nearly a million subs maybe there is some hope for future improvements.

At least they don't make you read far into the article to see where their data comes from
It's not explicitly clear where the figure comes from...

Oh I know there was no way in hell that they had 2mil subs, but they decided they would put that number up there instead of their sub count for whatever reason, even tho it includes the number of hackers, bots, and bug exploiters they had to get rid of...

No, that would just mean that 25% of the monthly subscribers have already left. The 3 months sub aint up for renewal yet.

On the other hand, we may see slight decrease when DA:I and Wild Hunt comes. Console subs will add up though.

If you go to the source article it says more. They collect data on 40 million gamers from a combination of sources including payment processors and publishers. It's a reputable industry source so probably has some degree of robustness.

If it's true, then that's actually quite a fantastic number. Especially considering how much ESO has gotten drenched in bad publicity.

Indeed. If the data is close approximation, it's encouraging.

People who dislike the game will say "This is proof the game is failing".
People who like the game will say "This is proof the game is doing well".

Moral of the story: no matter what proof is presented, both sides will view it differently.
Unfortunately for those people, there are real, mathematical ways to determine the factual quality of that nunber rather than rely on their " feelings."

Also, #2 of 2 AAA subscription MMOs still around isn't a great thing to be bragging about.

When one is an outlier like WoW, of course it is. Sheesh.
