I won't resub and no game cards or steam...

So, I refuse to live in a way in which I am unhappy; being attached to a subscription makes me very unhappy. I like game time cards, it makes me happy to remove the irons from my balls and own my own time.

I was hoping Steam would be accompanied by Steam Game Time Cards which would allow me to extend my time in ESO.

It seems I was wrong, that ESO being on Steam will do me no good. Hopefully you have this nonsense fixed by November so that I can get a game time card because I won't be subscribed and game time card will be the only way that I roll. Please, Game Time Cards on Steam would grant so much freedom.

Please, ZOS: Game Time Cards. There are none in my locality, none on Steam and I won't use amazon and all the other crap out there.

Okay, a possibly stupid question but isn't Game Time Card the same as Game Card? And if so, how is it any different from online subscription besides the fact that you need a debit/credit card for the latter? You can cancel your online sub any time if you are not sure you want to renew it and then enable it again if you continue playing.

    Simple:

I buy my time. I make my payment. Then, I am done. My information stays mine, I can easily get more when I want to, and I don't have to deal with potential for errors down the road.

I cancelled it long ago hoping they would release Game Time Cards. Simple, let me buy this card then insert a code to extend the length of my time.

Yes but, and sorry if I am not getting it, isn't it the same? You buy your, say, 1 month subscription from official site (or 2 months from GC), you make your payment and you can easily get more by doing the same again.

Or you mean that this way you could buy less time? Say, hours, days, weeks, etc. ?

It's been long since I was "younger" :) yet I still don't have that "beloved" visa card and I am quite thankful for that. Whenever someone demands cards for their services, I feed them a virtual card.

It doesn't have to be permanent, you can add game time and instantly remove your card details, can you not? (I haven't tried so I don't know).

I want to be able to buy 1 month or 2 months or 3, or even 6 months; preferably with normal shopping at a local retailer. I can also live with doing it over Steam.

What I don't like is the feeling itself, the "binded" feeling of being in a Subscription. I do like and want the Subscription Model, don't get me wrong. I just want to pay my share up front and be done with it until its time to buy again. Subscription just feels like irons on the balls, game time cards make me feel like I am the one at the helm.

And I strongly believe you have a right to want that. That's one of many reasons why I don't use credit cards and get involved with any type of credits, and never purchase stuff in installments.

Well, yes, while I understand and agree with game cards should be in shops (I am surprised they aren't or not that common) but if you have a debit card instead of credit, you don't have to pay in installments or anything like that.

All you do is buy what time you want then after you are charged cancel your scrip and delete the payment info until you are ready to add more time. Only you are making this difficult.

    1. This doesn't solve the problem. This isn't even an answer. The goal is to not enter my information at all. The goal is to purchase game time on my terms, by the most painless mechanism. Denying that is making this more difficult.

    2. Your stance is called "Person Blame" which is used to blame the user-end of every system no matter what. You are using an Apologist Line. The end goal of this strategy is to "Pivot" out of the topic and into a discussion about my behavior. This is sauce of the weak mind. It doesn't offer constructive feedback, nor address the issue. Instead it confuses what the issue is and throws a dart at the wrong thing.

Making troll comments and personal attacks is against the rules of the forum. Making this post "about me" instead of about the issue is not constructive. Don't worry about where I prefer to shop.

If you trust Amazon, good for you. If you trust weird downloading sites, good for you. We are all different people and we all have different shopping needs. I prefer to buy things in my locality however I can use Steam if required because I already have an account there making it painless.

Steam has the potential to sell Game Time for ESO, like it does quite a few games. Game Time Cards are the easiest way to privately and quickly buy game time however my local retailers don't have any.

    That leaves Steam.

What about buying a pre-paid card? Seems like the same concept of a game time card. Protects your info and you only have to put as much money as you want on it. No need to cancel the sub because when they try to re-run the card with no money on it, it will cancel itself. Problem solved....

Edit: ^yup, beat me to it.

If you are so neurotic that you can only conceive of your way as being the right way for you then don't foist it on us by posting it on the forums. Look, you're an edge case, even if a few hundred people are like you you're still an edge case and expecting a company to cater or change things that they cannot change (making sure all gamestops carry cards for you) isnt reasonable or fair. Sometimes, when you're unflexible then things are not going to go your way. Its a fact of life.

I'm surprised this thread hasn't gotten closed as a "good-bye" thread. I understand that you don't like the idea of storing your CC and personal information, but I think the above comment about trusting Steam and not other companies is a legitimate criticism of your argument and not a trolling comment. Regardless, I have seen game time cards in some local Gamestops and Best Buy stores. They don't all carry them, so it could be a store to store or district wide decision whether or not to have them. Additionally, online retailers won't help since you don't want to have a credit card. I have not specifically seen ESO but I know that Target and Walmart have carried game time cards for other MMO's in the past. Other than that I don't have any good suggestions.

I doubt Steam will get the option to add game time directly as ZoS would probably prefer that you add through their website so they don't have to pay a cut to Steam but who knows.

If you are so unhappy with the state of ESO then don't renew and move on to a new game that will cater to your way of paying. Don't make a ridiculous post then flame on the people who comment saying they are personal attacks...but this post did make me laugh while enjoying my coffee so thank you for that.

I appreciate that you're paranoid, but this is entirely down to your feelings when you use a particular payment method. And your feelings are noted.

You can currently input your payment method, pay, and immediately remove your payment method from your account. Now, a compromise of your credit card information through ZO's servers is not at all likely, but if that's really your concern, just do that.
