Well, I mentioned in previous posts that Zenimax's decision to give new steam players, who are paying less money on steam for an Imperial Edition now to also get a fairly decent pet perk while those of us who parted with...what $70+ dollars got crabs was a pretty sleazy move. Those already here have been asking for a long time for something better, then boom, one day you see, yes we added something better, but only for new players. Not cool Zenimax. Not even a little bit.
While I understand the need to drum up new business, how Zenimax didn't understand how much this would get under the skin of those who parted with a lot of money, stuck with the game through all the issues, and then charge us monthly without question is beyond me. Even when I got stuck with crazy ugly green armor for many levels I stuck with the game, ever pushing to get to a Veteran level I wasn't sure I wanted to get to after all the posts from those who where already there.
Don't get me wrong, this one thing, while VERY annoying and bit of spit in the face for those who bought the Imperial Edition of course isn't enough to make me leave on it's own, it's the last straw for me(basically the feeling they don't care about those subs they already have) and I think basically a good sign I've had what I need from ESO and time to move on. It's not even the perk itself. It's what Zenimax is saying to us already here with that decision, is not a company I want to give any more of my hard earned money too.
When people on the forum asked, "Hey, what's up with this? We payed our dues", the only thing a moderator felt like chiming in to say was, no..it's only for Steam people..without anything like...we understand the frustration for those that spent a lot of money not many months ago, so here is what we have coming, so don't worry. Here is a list of pets coming, etc. SOME kind of explanation.
Obviously the forums exploded with concerns, and I waited for something from Zenimax. Some breadcrumb from to say hey hey...we DO appreciate those that have been with us since launch and here's details on what we have coming, so don't worry. Something other than a flat out. Nope...go buy another copy of it you want it.
I really couldn't log into the game now as I every time I see one of the steam players with the perk, it would feel like Zenimax giving me the finger again and only happy to take my money. They sure don't act like they want any kind of customer loyalty.
While this post is negative about Zenimax's business practices. I DID enjoy the game itself. Till level 50 anyway. So it was a good ride, I thank them for that. Definitely worth the price of a regular copy of the game. Probably not Imperial Edition pricing, but standard pricing and the time I got enjoyment from it. So won't walk away with much negative to say about the game. Probably the lesson learned is just stick with regular copies of games from now on.
And..ha...if I ever planned to log into the game again...yes you could has my stuff, but sorry I won't ;-)
Cheers all!
