Trade guilds get a bad rap. A few helpful tips.

I am in 3 active trading all hovering around 500 members. The only reason I have ever seen anyone get booted is for rude/disrespectful behavior or because the account has been logged out for a week without notice. And the only restriction I have seen is that some of them require that you have at least one veteran character.

Most trading guilds consist of normal friendly people that enjoy crafting and/or just want people to trade with. They aren't monsters.

Too many people have this pre conceived notion that trading guilds are full of trolls, oil tycoons, and baby killers. My favorite trading guild is full of wonderful friendly people.

There are many ways to find the good ones.

Watch zone chat. Active guilds often recruit regularly in order to keep their rosters full of active accounts. Every member of the guild benefits from having a full active roster.

Ask in zone chat. Most people that are in good trading guilds will be happy to arrange an invite for you because as mentioned above, they understand that a full active roster is good for the entire guild.

Browse this or other forums like tamriel foundry. Be careful with this approach though as there may be many old inactive guilds listed.

Ask a friend. Someon you trust that will steer you in the right direction.

Here are a few tips.

Ask the person recruiting you how many members there are. I advise looking for guilds with 400+ members. The more members, the more potential transactions you will have.

Once you join the guild, open the roster and scroll down. Scan the offline accounts. If you see more than 100 accounts that have been offline for more than a week, then it's safe to assume the leaders of the guild aren't keeping it active and you may want to move on.

Don't be afraid to leave. It's nothing personal with trading guilds and you may have to join/leave a few before you find the good ones.

Don't be afraid to use addons. There is one called Guild Store Search for example that scans all of your guild stores and allows you to search them all at the same time with a search bar.

Chat channel filters are your friend. You can create custom channels for each guild as well as color coding them in order to minimize the potential confusion caused by so many different chats.

Don't be put off by guild bank restrictions. In most cases these are put in place because the guild bank was robbed or taken advantage of. There has to be protective measures in place when you are dealing with 500 people.

I hope this is helpful. We all know it isn't a perfect system, but it's the hand we have been delt. There are many great guilds out there. Happy trading.

P.S please forgive any typos I may have missed. I wrote this on my phone.
