DK Destruction Staff VR+ ... how?

I recently switched to Destruction Staff. My aim is solo PvE and ideally being able to solo public dungeons.

My current main bar setup:
  1. Impulse (morph to Elemental Ring when possible)
  2. Burning Talons
  3. Engulfing Flames
  4. Inferno / Petrify / Destructive Reach
  5. Inner Light

Ultimate: Standard of Might

Gear: 3x Willow's Path, 5x Twilight's Embrace, resistance jewelery
Traits: Enhance enchants mostly
Enchants: Magicka

Strategy for groups is to slot Inferno, run in and drop Inferno, Burning Talons, Engulfing Flames and Impulse spam while blocking / strafing to try and stay out of reach of melee snared by inferno or rooted by Talons. Drop standard if I get in trouble.

So spending a few hours trying different things in a VR7 public dungeon (and a 1.5K gold repair bill later) I feel like I need to review.

Casters
My main problem is probably casters that are outside the "kill zone" that can do serious damage and get me pretty low life before I am able to finish off melee. If there are 2 casters in the group and they are not close to each other it compounds the problem. How do I deal with this?

Bosses
Tried Petrify and Destructive Reach in slot 4 with various rates of success. The one caster boss I tried tore me apart. Melee bosses I did better but if they get a hit or two in I am in serious trouble as their normal attacks hurts even when blocking. Do I need to go for a much more defensive setup Razor Armor, Coagulating Blood and more single target dps like Flame Lash?

Any tips appreciated.

    I'm soloing public dungeons and most Craglorn packs with the following setup:

    Volcanic rune (opener) --> move inside the pack and block --> { Draw Essence (Inhale morph) --> Pulsar (Impulse morph) repeat }. For bigger/harder packs and bosses i drop ultimate, Shifting standard. In most cases Draw Essence is enough to sustain your health but having Coagulating Blood may save your neck occasionally. Draw Essence also restores magicka for each mob hit so you wont have any problems with bigger packs. In the last slot i usually keep Structured Entropy to gain some extra HP from it's passive, but its not vital, you may put Unstable or Engulfing for extra DPS on bosses.

    I'm running with 5 light Seducer pieces and 2 heavy (chest, boots) Arena, magicka enchantments everywhere. My flame staff is also Arena. 3 X Arcane/Reduce spell cost jewelry. I have 2k magicka, 2.5k health without PVP bonus.
