I recently switched to Destruction Staff. My aim is solo PvE and ideally being able to solo public dungeons.
My current main bar setup:
- Impulse (morph to Elemental Ring when possible)
- Burning Talons
- Engulfing Flames
- Inferno / Petrify / Destructive Reach
- Inner Light
Ultimate: Standard of Might
Gear: 3x Willow's Path, 5x Twilight's Embrace, resistance jewelery
Traits: Enhance enchants mostly
Enchants: Magicka
Strategy for groups is to slot Inferno, run in and drop Inferno, Burning Talons, Engulfing Flames and Impulse spam while blocking / strafing to try and stay out of reach of melee snared by inferno or rooted by Talons. Drop standard if I get in trouble.
So spending a few hours trying different things in a VR7 public dungeon (and a 1.5K gold repair bill later) I feel like I need to review.
Casters
My main problem is probably casters that are outside the "kill zone" that can do serious damage and get me pretty low life before I am able to finish off melee. If there are 2 casters in the group and they are not close to each other it compounds the problem. How do I deal with this?
Bosses
Tried Petrify and Destructive Reach in slot 4 with various rates of success. The one caster boss I tried tore me apart. Melee bosses I did better but if they get a hit or two in I am in serious trouble as their normal attacks hurts even when blocking. Do I need to go for a much more defensive setup Razor Armor, Coagulating Blood and more single target dps like Flame Lash?
Any tips appreciated.
