Playing it my way

I am having a blast playing this game, but only because I play it my way. I don't do most of the quests. I just head out to higher level areas and try to survive and accomplish things like :explore caves, find sky shards, way shrines, special locations, rack up achievements, find and explore public dungeons, and find and complete the few quests that interest me. I gain levels and equipment as I travel.

    Once I was in an absurdly higher level cave and another char asked "What are you doing here." I said. "I'm here to help." He chuckled.

    I was on my 14th level Templar when a guildmate asked for help to kill a world boss. I always jump at the chance to kill those, so I sent him a tell and ported over to him.

    It was at this time I saw he was 40th level. He says, "You are only 14th lvl, the boss is 42nd. Why the hell did you volunteer?"

    I said, "Go kill him, I'll keep you alive."

    We killed him, first try. :)

    That is so fun when it happens. My char is only an 18th level summoner, but he can stand back and dish out the dps from a distance do surprising damage. I think the skill points from sky shards help a lot. Way to go. :)

    I do the quests mostly because of the Story (and the Exp Gain) however most play sessions are just me out and about exploring and maybe doing some farming. I also like to throw some spells or arrows at a mob to help someone out as I go by.

    I don't try to get the strongest character build, just one that lets me survive and have fun at the same time. I know that my builds are not optimized for PvP, but that's not why I play the game.

    Just taking a moment to stand someplace and enjoy the view is one of my favorite aspects of the game. Also, watching other Toons go about their activities is fun, kind of like people watching in the real world.
    Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

    In real life I seek to do what I can to make the world a better place for my having been here. I like to play the game the same way. If I see a low level char fighting a boss that I am after, I will often back off and let him get the loot, only attacking if he seems to need help.

    Once the gf and I were strolling through a high level area when we were little. I believe we were looking for easy to get sky shards. We rounded a corner and the skull and cross bones appeared on the compass. Knowing my gf and her love of large monsters i screamed, ' for the love of all that is holy, don't you do it!!!!'

    But it was to late, she was off like a shot, disappearing over a hill. I had a moment to ponder fate, and my place in the universe, before i turned and walked away. The last i heard was her screaming, ' It burns, it burns!! I need a healer!'

    I flipped off the headset and went to play my way. Some where a little safer.

    Hi there! My name is Vaht or as most people call me, pupsy. I am a somewhat casual PvE and casual small group pvp player. Dude, this game is totes fun and I love playing with friends while in a discord call.

    I only have a dragon knight left to level and then i'll have one of each class at CP rank.

    More power to ya. When I created my first alt it was for this exact reason (my main became a questing only completionist).
