Windridge Cave Fps

i reported this long ago so thought id get some attention for it here, Windridge Cave in Stormhaven makes computers dye and framerates cry.

everything is fine until you enter the cave and then all of a sudden u are on 5fps or worse and it is nearly unplayable especially when u start combat. i know its not just me as my friend also has this issue and other randoms as well. plz fix this Zos!

I haven't had any issues with this, but you want to try the Support forum to see if it's a widespread issue.

If it isn't, then it sounds like an issue on your computer's end. And the first thing they will want to know for troubleshooting will be whether you use addons and if you've tried turning them off. So go ahead and do that if you haven't already.

I think I experienced the same thing...with the exception of my computer changing colors...I think it is because of shadows and particles. If I remember that cave correctly, everything is blue lit with torches and there is a constant fog/dust cloud. Have you tried turning down settings just to see if it is just a combination of effects and load on your GPU(s)? I would agree that if every other area is relatively better in performance ZOS may want to look at tweaks to that environment.

It seems to be an issue that is fixed with most periods of maintenance then reappears. I have found the way to complete the quest is to do it within a few hours of maintenance, when the fps is c.16 as opposed to the 2 which I get in there on other days. In this way I have completed the quest on 5 characters.

had this yesterday, strugled through the quest, left cave and had to relog to fix the fps.. was odd as every other cave I go in is 70-100 fps.

Hey Kronos,
Nice to see our two posts squatting next to each other in the forum list. I had the problem a week ago when I actually did the quest, and I thought it was solved. Last night, while scouring through stormhaven trying to find last skyshard and any remaining quests, I came towards the entrance of the cave, tried to chat up some other players and was booted back to the log-in screen with unknown error. I was able to do /bug with another alt this morning and was pleased to find my stormhaven character alive and well (and placed outside the cave). I did notice that my framerate was still pretty bad (this is the only time I've had a framerate issue) so I transited out of there via wayshrine!

There used to be a problem with one of the bosses not spawning. That was when I tried to do the quest with my first char.

The boss issue was fixed a couple of weeks ago (you had to abandon the quest to be able to do it), but then the FPS thing started. I don't remember if it started right after they fixed the boss problem, but at least I was able to finish the quest with my first (and recently, second) char.
Now it seems to be getting worse, with invisible NPCs, extremely low FPS and disconnects. Haven't been able to finish it with my third char yet.

FPS drop not just inside the cave but close to it. It's kind of funny though.

Same problem here. Fix this please!
