Why does sprinting break invisibility?

You can actually chain that ability, with wnough magica. You should be able to turn invisible with full magica long enough to run from a player

Surely you would still be invisible just not inaudible?

you arn't invisible tho you are stealthed, hidden. the effect you see on screen looks like invisible to differnetiate from just crouch stealth. but its still stealth. And you cant be stealthy while spinting.

if it was like the illusion spell invisibility from skyrim you could have a case. but even that breaks on any action

So much wrong info in this thread.

First, there are two states in ESO: crouched and invisible. They are treated as two different abilities by the game.

Second, crouching is a STATE, while invisibility is a BUFF. Sprinting changes your STATE from crouching to sprinting, so its obvious that you are no longer hidden. Try casting any buff (Retreating Maneuver, Sun Shield, Mutagen, etc.) and then sprint. Does your buff get removed? No. It makes no sense for sprint to remove a buff.

However, since we have a metric ton of proof that ZoS devs are lazy MOFOs, its obvious to anyone with any shred of programming knowledge that they did a little "copy/paste" of some code, and ended up having Cloak apply the same "hidden" that crouch does, and therefore made it subject to removal when you sprint. I could be wrong, and they could have purposefully added a hook into sprint to explicitly remove Cloak, but that just shows incompetence instead of laziness.

Run speed with cloak on and concealed weapon is about the same as sprint. Pop cloak and run (not sprint) and keep cloak up until the eye closes then you are safe.

FYI, you can sprint while being invisible : it's called being a vampire. Case closed. NEXT !

Restoration is a perfectly valid school of magic, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise! - Spells and incantations for those with the talent to cast them!
